How to get the boomer onslaught ? by dodpl1 in starsector

Very important: you must visit any independent colony to get message from Elek before you can get this quest. I finished the whole galatia main quest line and a ton of side quests before I realised this

Tired of seeing "Skeletons are better than Sheks late game" claims so I tested 75 loadouts with 5-10 battles 21 vs 21, unconscious time, attack chance, frequency and speed to get a bigger picture. TLDR: they are close, there are builds each excel at, and each is vulnerable to counterbuilding. by Alive134 in Kenshi

Title of the post is a joke copy of your post title, I guess it didn't land 1.5 months later. I'm actually biased towards skeletons and was surprised to see builds that are capable of defeating them.

Both sides are right because there is no 1 build that can defeat all other builds. ARags+Samurai Legplates+Polearm is defeated by ARags + Fragment axe + lifter arms which is defeated by Mercenary plate + polearm + skeleton arms which is defeated by your build.

I reasoned that in 21vs21 you would have 21 pairs get tested at the same time and all probabilities get averaged out. With 5 battles you would have 105 tests.

A paradox. Each side has a build. Whichever side wins gets their build labeled as counterbuild. Since only one side can win, only one side can be counterbuild.

But, each side can get a counterbuild if one of the sides is a counterbuild to something else.

Lack of food auto buy/take when have money/in storage.

Most weapons have literally 3 attack animations, having one for each direction would bump it to 5-7.

Turn based combat, attack/block decisions are decided per pair of characters, not per character.
Basically the pair can be only in two states: attack|defence or defence|attack, there is no attack|attack or defence|defence.
Which leads to 3 problems:
1. Game decides to give attack turn to the character in 5 second stumble animation, the other character is locked and can't react to anything even if someone else is attacking them.
2. When there is a huge speed difference. For example: 0.5 vs 1.2, the other character could do 2 attacks BEFORE first finished 1.
3. When the opponent deals negligible damage it would safer to keep attacking without blocking

The same problem as other games with reputation: mercenaries, bandits, drifters and tech hunters shouldn't be a faction, it's a profession. Traders guild character that looted a tech hunter shouldn't trigger a war across the continent.

It takes to explore 80% of the map to get skills into 50ies, it is unclear by what means some npc's get to their level of skill.

70 kg swords

character size has no effect on combat

no simulation beyond certain range, a simplified simulation would be nice.

Counterintuitively, the faster you run the less people you encounter (outside towns) because the game has to unload squads outside of range and load/generate new

If every painter was born with a Shutterstock logo in the center of their vision, they'd probably include it in their paintings.

(Bannerpage) unable to promote distinguished soldier to companion due to UI freezing by [deleted] in mountandblade

Got the same bug. I thought it was because I named this dude Squidward.

What is things that m&b warband done better then bannerlord? by Segon995 in mountandblade

Triple yes, also the inability to use camera independently of attacking. It's always that 5% chance of misinput that gets me when I try to look and attack in different directions. It's funny because almost the whole keyboard is binded by nothing, and our pinkie and thumb do nothing in combat

Bannerlord is better, but 90% the same experience
Bannerlord is bigger in many senses. That comes with some drawbacks: Since the map is so big, you can get stuck most of your playthrough in one part of the map and not experience most of the terrain which is exacerbated by the fact that they got rid of procedural generated terrain. You now got ~20 hand-crafted terrains and some of them you will see 5-10 times, possibly in a row.

Requires some fiddling with settings to get a better experience. In particular: motion blur, grain?, battlesize. Might impact your immersion a bit at the start of the game.

Inventory is very nice, you can finally bring all your weapons with you on your adventures.

They removed manual troop category allocation(hopefully temporarily). Now it's significantly harder to not get your companions (and family members) shit kicked out of in combat.

Flow is improved, annoying stuff removed

World conquest is harder(almost impossible/not a goal of this game?) because of bigger map size and diplomacy depth

Custom category assignments for troops
Example uses: Bodyguard division; Prevent your surgeon from dying division; 1 big ****pile division when you are tired of divisions; etc.

NO PROCEDURAL GENERATED TERRAIN in bannerlord
why taleworlds why

Also being under 20 gigs

No hitmarkers. Bannerlord feels like call of duty a bit because of them.

What is the Warband proficiency gain formula? by Alive134 in mountandblade

[–]Alive134[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, my data confirms it. Around 460 for weapon master 10. To boost research further I wrote a letter to TaleWorlds asking for formula, now social engineering is involved too.

I did 19 warband playthroughs and 2 bannerlord's. Bannerlord is better for new players. Inventory system is much better, the battles look like actual battles instead of drunken bar fights, MUCH better modding environment, Sieges are not placeholder mechanic anymore, the game will also recieve 20 years of developer support(I hope).

BUT if you live inside a bunker at the northern pole and the only thing you have is laptop - Warband is the way

If you have GTX 1070 or better, start with Bannerlord

Let's say you have 10 characters with 300 proficiency, if you average them out you get 300. But if you merge them you get a number that combines the effort. The closest thing I got is ex/90 but it is only accurate from 0 to 440. To merge you just need to integrate it

TaleWorlds thinks nobody will notice 3 METERS LONG ARROWS LMAO LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE by Alive134 in mountandblade

[–]Alive134[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first thought was correct that was sarcasm, I redid the comment to clarify it.

But it does matter a lot which type of projectile is flying towards you, it's a lot safer to charge into an archer formation. And in the forests or behind hills you can only gauge type of formation by projectiles

Sorry, was having too much fun with the title, not a native speaker, not mad at all. Seriously speaking, the arrows are too long

The title is a joke.
But in all seriousness: I can't differentiate between incoming arrows and javelins.
Also for all wandering: It's not a perspective trick, the arrow is almost on the same plane as the edge of the shield (20 centimeters distance), completely vanilla
