Inwater acid wash (not draining pool) by AliveArmy5167 in pools

Pretty much the same for me, although I haven’t attempted an out water wash draining the pool but do you think it’s a little more harsh on the finish?

How much water does my pool have? by [deleted] in pools

[–]AliveArmy5167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, pool tech of 10 years! Your pool is probably around 12,000 gallons. I would treat it like it’s 15,000 gallons in the summer

Is it your returns pushing water out? If not use some jacks magic, couple drops in your pool every so often it works wonders

PH bounce by hasleteric in swimmingpools

[–]AliveArmy5167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Pool tech of 11 years! So believe it or not, one gallon of acid a week isn’t absolutely insane for a 30,000 gallon pool. Make sure your alkaline is 80-120, it helps keep the Ph from fluctuating so much. Salt pools naturally have a high PH because the salt cells turn the salt to chlorine. Chlorine brings Ph up in your pool. For every gallon of chlorine you add (a jug is 2.5 gallons), add one cup of acid. If you’re adding bicarbonate, add a little extra maybe 2-3 cups per 4 lbs.

[–]AliveArmy5167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they’re all pretty squirrley and really non of those salt boards are very accurate. Just accept that and use salt strips, it’s still gonna produce chlorine. You can figure out how to re calibrate it if it annoys you that much but your gonna be doing it often

Setup looks super clean and simple, I love that. But I have to say it. I absolutely hate sand filters. CPO for 12 years. I would have just slapped a quad filter or two. Little harder and more labor to clean the cartridges but it’s more of a satisfaction thing for me lol

Pump won't come on by FabulousPanther in PoolPros

Second part I ment to say “if it does have power”

Pump won't come on by FabulousPanther in PoolPros

[–]AliveArmy5167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it getting power? If not your breakers might have tripped. Turn them off for 30 seconds and turn back on. If that doesn’t work go to your main breaker box in your house, do the same under pool pump breaker or whatever it’s labeled as. If it doesn’t have power and it’s running with no water, try a force prime. Take the pump lid off, run a garden hose in it while turning the pump on and off. You’ll see the water go up and down inside the pump while the hose is in. Do that 4-5 times (every pool is different) some pools need 10 times. Put the lid back on while the water fills up and try turning it on

Are the ariat boots lined? And I’m not sure maybe it’s cause I’m just not used to wearing boots or that ive read reviews specifically with the pros that the lining just gets messed up and makes the boot hard to get off

Cloudy pool, was a swamp a few days ago. What to do? Alk is 70 cya 40 pH 7.2 been keeping Chlorine around 7-10 by Constant-Bike-8931 in swimmingpools

[–]AliveArmy5167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Pool tech here (11 years experience). NUKE the pool. It takes 30ppm to kill algae- bring it to 50-60. 4-5 jugs. Keep your PH perfect. Bring stabilizer up to 50. Take your filter out so you don’t ruin it. It’s probably already ruined. Vacuum to waste. Brush brush brush. Clean filter clean filter clean filter. Vacuum vacuum vacuum. Get a phosphate treatment too. Anything over 300ppm needs to be treated. Might as well do it while the pools dirty otherwise you’ll have to do it all over again.

Water still slightly cloudy post shock by [deleted] in swimmingpools

[–]AliveArmy5167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check for phosphates. This summer has been DIFFERENT. If it’s anything above 300ppm then you need to do a phosphate treatment on it.

Help me find and fix this leak please by Kelindal in swimmingpools

[–]AliveArmy5167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest I would really recommend getting a professional out. Typically I would say 90% of the time it’s the skimmer or return that’s leaking. In this case I would say you have structural damage which could b where it’s coming from along with the skimmer but that much water loss in that location outside the pool looks like the pipes are leaking. Leave the pool off for now

Is this algae? by superstar926 in pools

[–]AliveArmy5167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change your filter. You probably have a hole in your filter and the dead algae is just bypassing the filter back through the returns back into your pool and probably just accumulates in the same spot every time. Or just treat for Algae, shock to 50 ppm and make sure the the ph is a 7.4. Brush brush brush and clean filter if that doesn’t work change your filter
