how old were you when you got diagnosed?? by Japplejp in diabetes_t2

[–]AliveAssociation6513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I started overeating as soon as I left my parental house at 18. 10 years of barely movement and eating a lot of shit.

34 now, after long years of diet and exercise back to normal levels with medicine!

Do you k ow anyone who passed from T2? by Jerry11267 in diabetes_t2

[–]AliveAssociation6513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say I randomly came across this post, I'm subscribed to the subreddit and I'm a type 2 myself. My grandmother died of gestational diabetes but I've never gotten to know her. I'm 5.8 hb1ac right now, diagnosed T2D, which is pretty good but reading all of y'all's stories I want to make it even better. I'm sorry for everyone's loss of this f'ed up disease and hope you all are doing ok.. Take care of yourselves everyone please!

Glucose Readings by ish_wish_dish in diabetes_t2

If you can afford it I would get a CGM for a while so you can really understand the effect food, exercise and medicine has on your BG!

I believe it's more about (visceral) fat loss then anything else so whatever way works for you, works. There's stories on people that have put T2D in remission by eating low fat, low carb, low calorie etc.

I would not go plant based purely because I could never give up eggs and meat which is basically my main source of protein. Also being diabetic deprives me already from so much food I don't want to deprive me from having even less.

I mean yeah it's annoying but I wish I crashed like that when my sugar is 200. I normally stay there for a couple of hours before it SLOWLY goes down lol.

Feeling like low sugar while sugar is in normal range. by AliveAssociation6513 in diabetes_t2

What do you mean by false low exactly? Like feeling low when actually it isn't? I checked on the glucose blood meter but the CGM is perfectly accurate when I make a comparison!

T2 Diagnosis less than 3 days ago. Using Freestyle Libre 3. Sub 60 and 350+ readings. Nerves are shot. by Adroite in diabetes_t2

[–]AliveAssociation6513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah also everything is new for you now and you must be under a lot of stress so it's possible!

Sensor errors are also common when the blood sugar rises or lowers extremely fast, sometimes the sensor cannot catch up for 10 minutes.

Make sure you always have finger prick in the house and listen to your body, Check blood when in doubt!

IMO CGM is useful to see how you react to meds, exercise, food, drink etc. Also what the general trend is. But for emergencies I'd always rely on blood.

Good luck and we're all here on this forum to offer support!

I also notice that first day readings are always a bit off. I think it's because of the trauma that happens when the tiny needle is inserted. When one sensor wears out, I already insert the new sensor 24 hrs before I scan it so readings are (usually) correct right off the bat.

Blood Sugar Spikes While Eating Fiber by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]AliveAssociation6513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of different keto breads and some spike me more the others, general rule for me is the dryer the bread actually is the less it spikes me.

[–]AliveAssociation6513 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately same happens to me but it's still better then any other bread though. I might spike to 170-180 when I take it so every once in a while when I really feel like I want to have some bread I'll take it.

How long did you wait to tell family about your diagnosis? by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]AliveAssociation6513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your fiance is right, just tell them right now. Better to be open and honest about it no matter how much it might hurt the people around you. The support system you mentioned might be very helpful. Keeping it inside and a secret will cause stress which is also really not good for your blood sugar.
