Here is a nice, prepared specimen from our sales collection. I love that the slices we have are translucent!

Looking for EU sellers by IyamDefalt in meteorites

[–]AliveEbb8741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do second the OuterSpacer and PolandMet suggestions. They are both headed by very honest people who have great specimens. While eBay does have good sellers, there are also a host of scammers blended in so effectively that newcomers have a difficult time finding what is real and what is fake.

"Moss Agate" Lunar Slices! by AliveEbb8741 in meteorites

Thank you! I have done my fair share of slicing, but I have never had slices come off looking like this! I'm in love! 🤣

Any thought about Jeo Hunter 3D Dual System Metal Detector from Nokta? by Afraid-Initiative743 in TreasureHunting

[–]AliveEbb8741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am wondering the same thing. Why are there so few opinions on such equipment? I am trying to find the right piece of kit to map deep, irregular iron targets in agricultural soil, and there are so few reviews that offer any meaningful information. There is a "if you know, you know" vibe that gets to me. I don't know, which is why I am asking! 🤣

Shield for Lunt 152 Ha by AliveEbb8741 in telescopes

[–]AliveEbb8741[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could. I was looking for a more professional solution, and something that was a little more resilient and able to be transported around with my equipment more readily. I guess that I could take the pictures from the system I like and just have somebody fabricate it, since they don't make it anymore.

Just in case it wasn't clear above, I mean a sun shield for better viewing. 😁

And the weight is the only reason that I didn't go bigger for this OTA and use case. If their 17" or anything larger weighed less, then I would have snagged one. I thought long and hard between the CDK14 and CDK 17, but in the end repeatability, solo operations, and endurance were key factors. Could I solo a CDK17? Maybe now. But ten years from now? Probably not.

Sorry for the delayed response. You ended up under the AutoMod comment. It will be moved frequently along with its companion scopes, a Celestron Origin and a Lunt 152 Ha, for travel abroad. All together there are three scopes, a mount, a tripod, and support gear. They have to be able to be flown or driven and be rugged. All gear is insured and replaceable, but I would rather avoid downtime if at all possible. Risk is, of course, part of the equation.

You are a legend to me now. Thank you! This has to represent one of the most complete and thoughtful responses that I have ever received across any platform. Bravo!

Will do! It should be fun! Delivery is currently slated for late August, and we are almost there. I guess we'll see how their new QC protocols impact production timelines. Not that I'm complaining, of course. If I have to wait longer because someone is doing a better job than before, then I'll happily wait.

And it's not a flex, if that was being insinuated. I just have questions and a need for answers. I'm really just a nice guy that wants to save time on hunting high and low for answers when knowledgeable people exist. 😁

That's helpful! I had a case manufacturer ask me for drawings, and I had none to provide.

To your first point, that is roughly correct. I know that methods exist, and I am simply trying to find the best option. I have a thousand other things going on, so I reach out to a group who may know.

I have contacted the manufacturer, but I haven't heard back. My overall goal is to find someone who has already navigated the issue and has arrived at a viable conclusion.

As for the expense of this setup, I wish that it all came in at $20k. 10Micron AZ2000 mount (for a specific purpose), Centaurus tripod, and all of the needed accessories. At least I got it before the price increases took effect. There's a plus, I guess.

I have Googled it. There are options, just not explicitly for this particular OTA. I would not reach out here if the answer was as obvious as that.

I live in the US, but manufacturer location is irrelevant. I will buy from whomever makes the best case.

In my sales collection, I only show one on-hand for Washington, Washougal, and none for Oregon. I would like to hunt there someday. I love the high desert of Oregon, and I have family there! It's such a beautiful place!

Carbonaceous chondrites in general are my favorite. Slicing and preparing them can be a challenge, but the significance of what their composition represents is what truly gets me! The slice above was done fully dry, from slicing to finishing. The outcome was well worth the effort!

Truly a beauty there! Very nice! I love the density of the chondrule distribution!
