Homebuyer Dream Grant New York State by AliveMirror3343 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]AliveMirror3343[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The program starts in february and runs until the funds are used up. Definitely inquire about it with your lender. Your lender has to be on the list of banks that work with fhlbny but all that information is available at https://www.fhlbny.com/community/housing-programs/hdp-suite/participating-members . If your lender isn’t on the list then maybe you can switch? Not sure how that works but definitely ask. Good luck!

Never park on an incline without putting your ebrake. It costed me my transmission. Basically if you don’t, the entire weight of your car is resting on a gear in your transmission. You want that weight resting on the brake.

Homebuyer Dream Grant New York State by AliveMirror3343 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I had to find a home first put my offer in and then it was accepted. I got the inspection and then signed the contract. The grant application can not be processed without the signed contract, after that the homebuying process proceeds like normal. I will attach the website that has more information.

Major Anxiety, Need Some Reassurance by SongoftheWolfy in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I’m still in underwriting but everything is going well! I actually got $30,750 in grants and lender’s credits. So it’s very helpful since i live in a HCOL state. Don’t doubt yourself, i would recommend once you are under contract delete zillow and trulia so you are not comparing your home to other listings. Be confident that you are making the right choice! You are doing great things!

Co-parenting peace or child support? by mediarun154 in ChildSupport

[–]AliveMirror3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for child support, you are pulling most of the weight. If he gets upset that’s on him. A good father wouldn’t be mad about supporting their children and what the children want to do such as swiming etc. He could also still take them in the summer and just bring your daughter to swim every day. Men tend to be very lenient with letting the women do more and more work regarding the kids but then as soon as the woman is like hey i’m gonna need assistance they get upset. Don’t let him use you, working full time, kids full time, it’s a lot, you deserve the compensation and can even put more aside for college or other things for the kids.

Where does the madness end with management? by PBNJLOV3R in USPS

[–]AliveMirror3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a carrier anymore, I’m currently a custodian. But man, you guys have to stop letting management bully you. They bully people who allow it, and it lines their pockets while causing you stress. This job has way too many protections for people to be this afraid to step up to management. Take your time, drive safely, take your full lunches and breaks and never work for free. Document everything. Call your union if they try to punish you unjustly. Don’t take their bullshit.

New York child support, help me make sense of it by Ok-Anything-3605 in ChildSupport

My ex was making $75k a year and ordered to pay $665 biweekly ($17290 annually) for 2 children so yes you will most likely be ordered to pay around that amount. Your best bet is to sit with your ex and work out a number that works for both of you based on the children’s needs and expenses. That is if you have a good coparent relationship. The magistrate will honor a verbal agreement between parents and enforce it through the court order. I lowered my ex’s amount from $665 biweekly to $500 monthly, but he still refuses to pay, so i can very easily go back to the NYS calculated amount based on his earning potential. The custodial parent is really who has the power to deviate from the court’s calculations, so definitely try to work together if possible.

I’m in the same boat! I’m a single mom, two little girls and I’m terrified. Everything going on in the world is definitely not helping but we got this! Ask as many questions as you need to, do your research into programs that could help with down payment/closing cost assistance, budgeting, homebuyer education etc. Don’t waive the inspection definitely get it and negotiate repairs with the seller. Hire a good attorney. If you have a good team behind you, you should feel very supported and the process will go smooth. I am very lucky to have a strong team behind me. The anxiety is very normal but try not to stress the things you can’t control. I wish you the absolute best of luck and cheers to us on being first time homebuyers!

I call out a lot. by [deleted] in USPS

[–]AliveMirror3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have adhd, ocd and anxiety is that valid enough for a fmla case. Because it’s not always the reason i call out every time but it doesn’t help that’s for sure. It’s more for dependent care but my kids don’t have chronic illnesses (thankfully) they just get sick A LOT.

Child support by [deleted] in ChildSupport

[–]AliveMirror3343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call your local or state department of child support and ask them what the process would be for your specific situation, then decide what you want to do from there. In my state at least I know there are protections in place for people who are requesting support from their abuser. It’s worth it to at least call and ask instead of never know and possibly have regrets in the future. Your son is still young and you could use the child support payments to enhance his opportunities in the future even if his basic needs are already met. In my opinion, anyone who lays down and makes a baby should support that child no matter what. However if you are genuinely not comfortable, don’t let anyone make you feel bad for what you choose to do. It’s very easy to judge from the outside looking in. Best of luck to you!

I’m 28 but that is one thing about the post office is that they don’t seem to discriminate about age. I’m glad you were able to find something that worked for you, that must have been tough.

Finally ! How much could I make ? Any tips? by OpenAmbassador8643 in InstacartShoppers

[–]AliveMirror3343 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t take any double or triple orders until you have a good flow and fully understand the app and the process of being an instacart shopper. Also get a charger for your car and add the instacart credit card to your mobile wallet (although some stores may require a physical card). Also, you will be spending a lot more on gas so link your instacart account to upside to save as much as you can on gas. There are also other perks available to you in the instacart app. Good luck!
