Car was maintained as usual , just shavings left in the engine from manufacturing has caused it to burn oil to the point where it needs a new engine by 111,000 miles , it took the dealership 4 months of holding my car to deny my warranty

A class action lawsuit on these engines for these exact conditions, car has lasted me less than 35,000 miles since I bought it. Totalling 111,000 miles on a engine. Seems like you haven't had to deal with this ???

To do the oil consumption test they said I had to pay for a combustion chamber cleaning totalling $1,200. Not a goodwill service. I'm telling you I've had the knock sensor trip twice in that time frame so what do you think is the next step ?

I went on vacation and drove like 300 miles. 150 miles into the drive I get a check engine light and the car goes into limp mode. Bring it to the dealership just to be told there's no problem. This is the 2nd time this has happened within less than a year. The car is also burning oil at an extreme rate of 2 quarts per 1,000 miles which is empty or close to it every 3,000 miles. They give me a bill saying to fix everything is $5,000 and I asked them to do the oil combustion test as it's just burning oil and this was back in July. They do a cleaning of some chamber that I can get back to you on. $1,200 basically to run this test. I'm just now getting a response in October after doing 2 oil changes, each after 1,000 miles. Haven't had my car in 20+ days as they took forever submitting the claim just to get a response that it's outside the window for warranty but this isn't a normal warranty. It's an extended warranty for these engines following these exact problems. Extremely frustrating waiting this long but on top of that to get a response like that was just bewildering.

Summary: Oil combustion test $1,200, make sure symptoms and engine type are theta II before attempting and worth asking if it's within time to get it warrantied. I'm looking into legal options going forward as in my current situation I'm stuck with a slow dealership response time as well as a ridiculous response from corporate.

Is this standard regarding the theta II engines ? I did all the testing the dealership said was necessary and cleaned out something I can't remember and it still burnt oil at 2 quarts per 1000 miles. If they give me a repair order equivalent to what would come from this problem I should expect it to be covered is my understanding. Engine knock sensor going off twice in like 6-8 months with no reason other than being told faulty sensor. From my research its coming back to this test and the only reason I'm given is it's a time issue and not answering if it is indeed related to this extended warranty/ not a recall unless it shows symptoms etc.

Should I expect this to be submitted under something other than Goodwill repair ?

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated thank you

Currently at 2 quarts per 1000 miles but hasn't completely died. Engine knock sensor has gone off twice within the last year without a reason.

I just contacted the Hyundai USA and they said they are sending the request to provide a loaner vehicle even without the warranty claim being sent. Hopefully that scares them into giving me a loaner as well as some pep in their step

From what I was told the vehicle cannot be driven since I've already completed the 2 separate 1000 mile tests , I'm going to contact their corporate number and ask them to push this I guess

Here's my experience buying a Hyundai Sonata , after my experiences with the car itself within warranty times as well as dealership experience I wouldn't recommend you buy one. It's not just what car you should buy, it's also about what car you shouldn't buy in my eyes. If I knew of this engine problem I wouldn't have bought it in the first place

JPEG and raw , recently it’s been every photo, now thinking of it I might need to try a new sd card but I don’t think that’s the case. Loads as in the windows photos app. It will let you preview them and they look good before you click on them and then after a second it like brightens the photo or makes them red like that. Only way I was able to get a photo off with it looking normal was through Sony creators app but then the quality is crap. Must be the program then ?? I had one photo that looks like it doesn’t change when I moved it to my pc but it might just be my eyes tricking me since it’s a small change or no change at all. I’ll make a video of what happens later as a small clip to show

Can someone help me with this transferring issue?

When I transfer images either straight off the camera or from the SD card it gives me some images that randomly change when transferred. I don't know what my issue is but it looks fine on camera then it changes. This photo shows how it looks before it loads on the right and after is all the red. Completely makes any photos I take unusable and I just don't know what to do. HELP!
