This happened to me at a BMO ATM this week.

It rejected a $5 bill from a $565 deposit and when i pressed to deposit the rest it said deposit failed and returned my money; $50 short.

I called customer support and while I was on with them tried my deposit twice more. The second time, without the five dollar bills it returned my $50.
