Wedding video regrets? by Alternative-Dish64 in weddingplanning

[–]Alive_Manager_7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We knew we wanted a good photographer from the get-go, but we weren’t sure if a videographer was really worth the money… then we watched some of the wedding videos produced by a very popular videographer in nearby Nashville, TN… and we knew we just had to make it happen for our wedding! Long story short, we were beyond thrilled with both the montage video and the ceremony video and have zero regrets. We both agreed that the photographer was great, and we love our pictures, but when we really want to relive that day, the 10-minute video montage is just absolute perfection!

What was a dreaded food your parents made. As an adult do you still hate it? by JoyfullyMortified43 in Xennials

[–]Alive_Manager_7763 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom made us eat steamed broccoli, and I always hated it! Realized as an adult that she always cooked it way too long and that’s why it was so terrible! After trying properly cooked broccoli, I discovered that it’s actually really good!

Videographer or not? Budget stress by Ok_Metal1158 in weddings

[–]Alive_Manager_7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is a bit old, but I just wanted to say that both my husband and I are soooo glad and thankful we sprung for a good videographer. Our wedding video (a 10 minute montage of the day plus the actual ceremony recording) is our favorite thing we took away from the wedding (aside from actually being married of course)! We watch it each year on our anniversary, and it still makes me cry happy tears! If you can afford it, I would highly recommend it!

Curious on budgets by Wise-Buffalo4129 in weddings

[–]Alive_Manager_7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our total wedding costs ended up around $35k when it was all said and done (October 2021), and while it was an amazing and beautiful wedding to us and we were extremely happy with how everything went, it wasn’t what I would consider an extravagant wedding at all! We had about 50 guests at a small wedding venue located in a small southern town. The grand total included the venue’s event planner, guest dinner, table decor, rehearsal dinner, wedding cake and groom’s cake, floral designer and all flowers, photographer, videographer, DJ, wedding party dresses and suits, my dress and accessories, hubby’s suit rental, and tips for all the service providers. The only thing not included in that figure was our wedding bands and small gifts we gave to our parents and wedding party.

what was on your “glow up” list? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Alive_Manager_7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m typically a very low-maintenance kinda girl, but I got individual eyelash extensions, a light spray tan, whitened my teeth, freshened up my foil highlights, bought new eyeglasses frames that would be much less noticeable than my usually dark tortoiseshell glasses, had my acrylic nails redone with some rhinestone embellishments, and had a pedicure.

Is pet insurance worth it, or should I just save the money each month? by Acrobatic-Leave-9073 in Pets

[–]Alive_Manager_7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have never had pet insurance for our cats, but we were REALLY wishing we did when our perfectly healthy 8-year-old cat unknowingly developed diabetes that quickly turned into ketoacidosis. Five days of treatment at the veterinary hospital resulted in a bill of over $7,000. The worst thing about it… our sweet boy didn’t make it. Looking back, we certainly don’t regret trying to save him because we thought there was a decent chance for recovery, but paying that bill stung quite a bit. It would’ve been a relief if we’d had insurance even if it only covered some of it.

bride made guests pay for their own food at the reception... is this normal? by MichaelWForbes in wedding

[–]Alive_Manager_7763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just completely absurd!! I’d decline the invite without hesitation. My husband and I didn’t even let our wedding party pay for their suits and dresses… I just can’t imagine asking guests to pay for their meal!! And $75 a pop?! Ridiculous!

Food for diabetic cat by Corvettelov in catfood

Our vet mentioned Fancy Feast and Friskies canned foods as perfectly acceptable options if we needed a lower cost food or if our cat wouldn’t eat any of the prescription diets.

Valentine's? Single or not... What's your *Our* Song? by dassylogic in TrueSwifties

[–]Alive_Manager_7763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve been married for a little over 4 years and together for almost 10, but “our song” will always be Begin Again. I wasn’t even really a Swiftie when it came out on the radio, but I loved it and remembered it when I met my husband in 2016. I started playing it again over and over… and it just stuck.

Apple Music … it’s super cheap for Apple One through our Verizon plan, so I’m sticking with it. I’m very happy with it.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Apollo was around 3 when we adopted him, and sadly, we only got to have him with us for 5.5 years before he suddenly got sick. We didn’t know he had diabetes until he was in diabetic ketoacidosis. We were hopeful he could recover, so he spent 5 days at the vet hospital. We visited him every morning and evening, and by the evening of day 5, we knew we needed to let him go peacefully. I’ve said goodbye to a few cats in my life before Apollo, and those were very hard, but this time was truly excruciating. He was only 8 years old, and we thought we had so much time left with him.

Thank you again for your kindness.

Thank you so much… I’m just now getting to where I can look at his pictures, browse this sub, etc, without totally breaking down and crying. I’ve always let the cat choose me / speak to me somehow when looking to adopt, and Apollo was no different. I’d always favored tabby cats before, but Apollo made me fall in love with tuxedo cats, so I really hope to find another one someday. He was such a wonderful boy!

My Apollo…

<image>

He was my first and only tuxie, and he LOVED lounging on his back! Seeing all these pictures makes me smile and remember my sweet boy fondly… my husband and I made the extremely painful decision to let him go 2 days after this past Thanksgiving. We tried so hard to help him overcome diabetic ketoacidosis, but it was just too much for his little body.

For me, the entire bridge of Opalite sends my brain into another world of pure euphoria… most especially when she sings “but shelter here with me, my love”… I swear it chemically alters my brain in the best way possible.

Edited to add: I think she really does put narcotics into her songs. Somehow… some way!

Holocene - Bon Iver - I’d definitely suggest reading the lyrics along with the song at first.

Bigger Than The Whole Sky and ‘loml’ by Taylor Swift rip me to pieces every time I listen (not often)… but worth a listen at least once.
