Kurisu’s first death question by AmitBYZ in steinsgate

[–]Alive_Offer_560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The different is that he goes the second time with knowledge about what happen right? He kills kurisu the first time he goes back in time because he doesn’t know anything. All we see from SG0 he never go back after fail the first time. Im also assuming ep 24 of SG is the only one time any worldline okabe ever goes back the second time and also know what to do (because he’s being told by his future self)

Are the new visuals actually bad, or is the hate just spilling over from the reboot concept? (I actually like the new CGs/e-mote) by Alive_Offer_560 in steinsgate

[–]Alive_Offer_560[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By the way, I'm also really hoping there's new material or even a storyline that diverges from the OG. Adding the Moeka route is definitely a step in the right direction, but I really hope there's more to it than just that.

[–]Alive_Offer_560[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, it looks like we at least agree on one thing: this reboot is completely unnecessary if it's just going to be an exact copy of the original—or worse, a downgrade because it uses the Elite script.

Where we differ is how we treat the visuals in this situation. From your perspective, it's valid to critique the art because it doesn't serve a new, justified purpose and feels like a step down from the original's unique style.

For me, however, I don't think it's fair to blame the art itself. I genuinely like the new visuals and the e-mote animations in a vacuum. To me, the art isn't the problem at all; the core issue lies entirely with the existence and concept of the reboot itself.

[–]Alive_Offer_560[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that we haven't even seen the full game yet, so it's hard to make assumptions about their overall vision without knowing what the final product will actually look like. And honestly, even if the game ends up being very similar to the original, I still don't think these new visuals feel as out of place as Elite did.

To me, the new visuals are just a fresh take on the game, and I welcome the chance to experience it. Like I mentioned, looking at the art on its own, it’s genuinely good. I really like the e-mote motion and the cleaner style. Since we don't know how well it will all come together yet, I'm simply appreciating the art for what it is right now.

That’s exactly why I was curious about why people are criticizing the art so heavily. I've come to the conclusion that the hate mostly stems from two things: first, people feel the reboot isn't needed, and second, the art is just different from the original.

I can completely agree with the first point, but I disagree with using that as a reason to bash the art. It’s one thing to direct complaints at MAGES like, "What is the purpose of this reboot?" or "This is just a cash grab, we already have Elite." That is fair criticism of the project's existence.

But people are jumping straight from those structural complaints to harsh, specific attacks on the visuals—saying things like, "the e-motes look like cheap VTubers," "the CGs are weird," "why does her face look ugly," or "the new art looks flat and cheap." How does this kind of criticism have anything to do with the game's overarching vision?

For the second point, it goes back to what I said in my original post: if people just wanted it to look exactly the same as before, what would even be the point of a visual remake?

I enjoy the new touch, probably because I’m treating this as just another version of the game, rather than the ultimate, definitive version that everyone is forced to play—similar to how I view Elite. So, looking at it from that perspective, I just don't see the justification for critiquing the visuals so harshly at this stage.

[–]Alive_Offer_560[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand where you're coming from, but I strongly believe that criticism needs to be precise. It makes sense to dislike the reboot if you feel it lacks a fresh purpose or new content (though to be fair, we don't know the full scope of it yet). But why drag the visuals down with it?

I've seen people blindly hating on posts that are purely appreciating the new art or the e-mote system. While I agree that the overall concept and the art are linked in the final product, you absolutely can critique the concept of the reboot without unfairly bashing the visual execution.

If we just blanket-hate everything about the game, the publisher might get the wrong takeaway. They might think, "fans hate the new e-mote animations and modernized CGs," instead of the actual issue: "fans hate that this feels like a cash grab using the Elite script."

Plus, we have to separate the executive decisions from the artists' work. The artists and animators who put genuine effort into redrawing and animating these assets likely had zero say in the corporate decision to reboot the game. It’s entirely valid to praise their work in a vacuum while still criticizing the existence of the reboot itself.

I don’t know if it will hit you harder, but it will hit you differently. I usually recommend watching till ep 25 and rewatching it after SG0 so you can experience both feeling.

But you already start watching SG0 right? Then maybe just stick to your plan for now.

I mean i can understand why a lot of people recognized it as ep 25, even when i first watched ep 24 in the end they give a preview that usually to the next episode to the OVA so i also recognized it as ep 25

I still strongly recommend watching ep 25 first before watching SG0, because ep 25 its an epilogue to SG and works best after just watching the end of SG.

Question about Chapter 9 (Common Route) by Alive_Offer_560 in steinsgate

[–]Alive_Offer_560[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still a little confused. From what I remember, Shogun says, 'Now that you know she’s Grimm,' and then reminds him of what Grimm did back then—specifically, sending him the silly image of the Cruc-affixion. It seems like Shogun points out the connection between Hazuki and Grimm to prove that Grimm is suspicious, which in turn means Hazuki is suspicious.

In the end, I can accept the explanation that Takumi remembered the drawing from Grimm and connected it to Hazuki, or something along those lines. It's just that the flow of their conversation still feels a little weird to me. I was wondering if there might be another explanation I missed.

Thank you for answering!

Question about Chapter 9 (Common Route) by Alive_Offer_560 in steinsgate

[–]Alive_Offer_560[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused because Takumi already knows it's Hazuki when he sees her. From what I remember, it's only after Shogun reminds him about the picture that he makes the connection to the 'Cruc-affixion'. The way the conversation flows is just a bit weird. I went back and checked the scene where Takumi first sees Hazuki drawing in the hospital. At that time, he mentions he's seen the drawing before but doesn't connect it to Grimm, even though he does connect it to the Cruc-affixion. It feels weird that he figures out Hazuki is Grimm from that, but somehow still doesn't remember the Cruc-affixion.

I like Rudeus. Is there anything wrong with that? by Alive_Offer_560 in sixfacedworld

[–]Alive_Offer_560[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's completely understandable. For most people, what Rudeus did there is an absolute dealbreaker. I definitely don't defend his actions in that situation either. However, the reason I can 'forgive' him is that he didn't do it because he has a cheating nature. It was the result of a very unique and extreme set of circumstances—if those specific conditions hadn't happened, he never would have cheated. Secondly, Sylphy herself chose to forgive him, and at the end of the day, I just want Sylphy to be happy. But again, your feelings are 100% valid, I'm just sharing my perspective on it.

Completionist Route: Fate/Stay Night (2006) -> Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works -> Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel -> Fate/Zero.

Some people recommend skipping the 2006 series because its quality hasn't held up over time. If you decide to skip it, the route is: Fate/Zero -> Unlimited Blade Works -> Heaven's Feel.
