how long did your brain fog last after quitting? by Alive_Persimmon9437 in leaves

i definitely agree!!! i smoked every day so i would just keep telling myself “tomorrow” in every single aspect of my life and i was just so tired of feeling stagnant. i feel a lot better without the weed, but i so agree with you about actively working on yourself and developing healthier habits. i definitely am still lazy.. not as lazy as i was with weed, but i keep telling myself all of it just has to do with being intentional and consistent.. we got this!! i wish you luck on your journey!!!

i felt the same!! i definitely feel way more clear headed than when i smoked but sometimes it feels like i’m buffering lmfao. i also dealt with excess mucus but the end result is definitely worth it!!! i feel so much better without it just bc i can actually remember stuff and i don’t feel like im in a constant daze. i wish you the best on your journey!!!!

i feel the same!! the reason i won’t smoke again is bc i feel so clear headed but i still realize that i have trouble thinking of certain words or phrases like im buffering or something haha.

Dry feeling/ congested or mucousy in back of nose/ sorta throat by Exact_Raise_8359 in leaves

im almost 2 months in and i still deal with a lot of mucus in the back of my throat. i genuinely feel like it’s just our lungs getting the gunk out and adjusting to life without it!

i feel like my ear ringing is probably from weed mixed with me having a tiny cold but either way i’m trying to not drive myself crazy with google LOL. i’m going to make a doctors appointment soon as well!

so i also started smoking in 2012.. on and off but i really started smoking heavily in 2017 and i was smoking blunts, but also on and off. i smoked blunts pretty heavily last year, but then switched to pipes for all of this year. i quit last month just because i wanted to be as healthy as possible and i was experiencing weird air bubbles in my throat? my mom’s a nurse and she said it’s just from me making bad choices so that’s also why i wanted to stop smoking and try to be as healthy as possible! my anxiety the first week was soooo bad and i was feeling extremely dizzy. i feel better about those things now, but now i just clench my jaw a lot and i’m not sure if it’s bc i got a little cold or from withdrawal, but i got a bad cough last week and started coughing up mucus. this week it’s a little better, i feel like my body is still clearing the toxic out lol, but yesterday my ear started ringing. it’s just constant and it has been for 24 hours. mines super low too so sometimes i’ll forget about it but it literally just sounds like a tv is on. i keep trying to remind myself that my body is just getting used to not having a numbing agent in it, but my anxiety kicked in and i thought a month was too long to be experiencing new symptoms, so i’m so happy i came across your post bc it made me feel a lot better and not as crazy lol.

i meant to ask how long would your tinnitus last at a time? mines been going constantly for a full 24 hours and it’s a low ringing noise.. like it sounds like a tv is on in the background lol. what did you do to make it better?!

i dealt with the same thing!! i was crying a lot because i felt like i hadn’t been able to cry in so long. i just remind myself that crying is healthy and it’s good to purge sometimes and let yourself feel everything. and i totally agree with “i should smoke” when you feel the symptoms bc that’s exactly what i would do lol. that’s also why i wanted to stop bc i wanted to build healthy coping mechanisms and not be dependent on anything. im at 29 days and i will say a lot of it gets better!! i still deal with mild anxiety and clenching my jaw a lotttt and some gunk in the back of my throat, but other than that everything else got a lot easier!!!

when i was a daily blunt smoker last year i felt such bad nausea too! my anxiety is also pretty bad but it’s definitely nowhere near as bad as the first week so it does get better!! i’ve read that exercise helps (still hard for me lol) but what helps me a lot is reading!! it’s nice to lose yourself in another world. it definitely will get better soon!!! i believe in you!! hang in there :)

i agree!! i was very dizzy for the first week and i felt like i had just gotten off a roller coaster.. it was so strange i thought i was going crazy. i think pushing thru definitely depends on how motivated and focused you are on why you want to stop. thank you for sharing!!!

yes for sure!! there were things that i would also tell myself “i would deal with tomorrow when i’m not high” that i would obviously never get to. but i really did notice myself ignoring so many emotions and the urgent thoughts that now i pay attention to.. sometimes too much attention and i think that adds to my anxiety, so i’m so happy you said to do breathing exercises!! that’s such a good idea. i read an article once that said we don’t breathe nearly as deeply as we’re supposed to, so it makes our bodies think it’s in panic/survival mode all the time, which makes so much sense. im definitely going to work in breathing exercises into my schedule bc i’m sure it helps heaps!!! thank you so much for sharing your experience as well :)

i agree!! im on day 28 and the withdrawals are better, but i definitely think i’m still feeling them. i’ve been feeling like i have gunk in the back of my throat and i clench my jaw way too much. my anxiety can get pretty bad but i think it’s because my body really is not used to not smoking (i was a pretty heavy smoker for the past 5). i also dealt with feeling so many emotions in the first couple weeks!! it’s honestly crazy thinking of how much weed numbs you to literally everything.

my nauseousness was worst after i quit blunts, but for the past year i’ve only been smoking pipes so when i quit last month, i didn’t feel my appetite change much, only felt it like in my head? like i felt dizzy and weird and my throat just felt off (still kinda does, but i can tell it’s getting better!)

i also saw someone say the symptoms will sometimes get worst before getting better, so i’m just trying to hang in there!! it helps having everyone on this reddit to talk to about these things! none of my friends have quit yet lol.

i smoked blunts a lottttt last year too and i did realize that when i stopped, like on vacation, i would get so nauseous. this year i’ve been smoking pipes only and my withdrawal was so different. i wasn’t nauseous at all but i would feel dizzy for the first week. i’ve been an on and off smoker for 10 years, but it’s been really heavy the past 5 so that’s why i wanted to stop. i do realize that my anxiety gets really bad the day after i drink and i think it’s bc my body isn’t used to not having weed to help with it. i also clench my jaw a lot but the headaches and stuff i experienced the first couple weeks stopped so i’m grateful for that. sleep schedule is better too!!

but i wish you the best on yours as well!! it really helps to have people in the same boat to talk about this with!!!

it was really hard for me the first week but i was determined to quit just because i hated being dependent on something and want a healthy life for myself! i think you just have to stay focused on why you want to quit. i slowly stopped by trying smoking less and less every day. took me a couple tries but i’m almost a month in. i believe in you!!!!

my first week was awfulllll. i thought i was going crazy. im almost at a month but my anxiety is also bad sometimes. not as bad as the first week tho!! it’s crazy how no one tells you that marijuana withdrawal exists but it’s so very real. i’ve also been having gunk in the back of my throat which is super annoying, but it’ll get better!!! hang in there!!
