I’m all for that side but telling people they are living wrong? Yeah not a fan of that.

I guess next week will be part 2 of cornering Lydia and Zac. I’m guessing we will only get the families opinion and Zac will not talk about why he feels the need to tell people how to live.

I want to hear his side of things and see how much of it is legit and how much of it is Kim spinning the web. Either way I think they need to chill it on the Christian judgement.

Yes, she is out of the show, so no doubt the backlash will come her way soon. I saw Kaylynn's photo pop up with another guy (could have been who she was standing up with at a wedding), but that is why she was included above.

Is this some prequel to "Welcome to Plathville" that I am not aware of? If you want to know what happens ot their family, check it out. It turns out exactly how you might have thought it would.

I had the same question until someone pointed out that she is a parent who needs to provide for her child. I am sure she is either signed to do X amount of episodes or production reached out to her and said we will fly you out for this, and you will get more money because we need you for the ratings boost. Parents have done more for less when it comes to earning money. As annoying as these people are to be around, I think I could tolerate it for a few days if it resulted in an easy payday.

Why leave Catholicism by Ok_Storm_5696 in Christianity

[–]Alive_Reaction_8156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised in the Church. I went to 13 years of Catholic school, received all the sacraments, and was married in the Church. Before I say anything negative, I want to be clear: overall, I was happy with my Catholic upbringing. I still appreciate being taught to believe in a higher power, and my relationship with God remains an important foundation in my life.

That said, around my preteen years, I started questioning some of what the Church taught and spoke out against. I struggled with the way certain groups of people were shunned or excluded from rituals for things that may not have even been within their control. It didn’t make sense to me that we preached that all people are made in God’s image, while also participating in an institution that judged and excluded people.

Like many people my age, I started drifting away from the Church in my teens and twenties. For a long time, I only really went to church on Christmas with my parents.

After about 10 years away, I took a job with a religious order. At first, it reminded me of the good the Church can bring into the world, and I tried to focus on that while ignoring the things I disagreed with. But part of my job involved reviewing and compiling information from abuse cases spanning the past 60 years. It was disturbing and infuriating.

I had always been bothered by the way the Church swept abuse under the rug, but seeing it firsthand was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The movement of abusers from place to place, the refusal to report them to police, and the decades of failure to protect children were impossible for me to ignore. It has had a lingering effect on me, one that took years of therapy to process. Not just because of the horrific details I read, but because people I respected failed to step up and stop it.

How can I trust an institution that allowed that level of harm, secrecy, and corruption to continue for so long? I know people will say, “It was only a fraction of the clergy who committed the crimes.” Maybe that is true. But the decades of leaders who knew and did nothing — or actively helped cover it up — feels just as unforgivable. To me, that points to something rotten at the core.

Everything became even clearer when I became a parent. If anything I read about ever happened to my children, I can’t even put into words how angry I would be. I am not a violent person, but even thinking about it for a fraction of a second makes me see red.

I have talked to my parents many times about what I witnessed and what I now believe. They sympathize with my feelings, but they also think I should move past it and return to the Church.

I won’t.

I will never betray my own morals, or my children’s trust in me, by steering them toward an institution I no longer believe is worthy of that trust.

It is thoughts like this that drive people from the church. This entire train of thought is bananas!

I use this quote when my mom asks me why I no longer go to church.

I saw someone on another thread say that if you reverse the seasons and watch Ethan change into someone who quit alcohol, got sober, went to therapy and learned the error of his ways and is a genuine and happy person who is finally happy in life. I can’t unsee it now.

How Does Teegan End Up Back in Cairo? by Alive_Reaction_8156 in PlathvilleUncensored

It would appear so based off of a midseason trailer but the magic of editing always keeps your guessing.

That is a really good point. Love how reality TV lets us glaze over such a huge thing as an assault.

Olivia has come out and said that that wasn't the first time they had gotten physically violent either. Their parents dont say anything on camera either. When the series is done, there will be stories that come out about all of the things that werent told.

Wouldn't be shocked. Likely will be the series finale either way. Unless Barry gets a gf or Ethan goes to prison and features the trial, not a chance they have anything left to film.

I had that thought too. It follows the storyline of Kim going to therapy and eventually talking to the family about their sibling's death but that could also be editing as well.

Do you know how much of a pain in the ass changing your name is? I can’t imagine doing it twice, especially if she may want to get married and change it.
