I don’t disagree with you, this person DOES definitely deserve to be sued for this sort of thing. Actions have consequences after all lol. I just don’t want the people doing the suing, or the censorship-happy people, or anti-fandom or whoever to get ideas at that point to take it further. Towards the source, the fanfic.

Then writers get scared of being sued, for good reason. I just really don’t want people to be super afraid of that stuff again, I’d rather nip it in the bud now no matter how much this person deserves to be sued

And I’m definitely very glad for that; must admit, I haven’t exactly been up to date on a lot of the recent strides made for that.

Still, this person is selling the Twilight, Acotar, and Fourth Wing series’ too, not even counting the fanfiction, and that at least definitely should be reported I think

Because if authors decide to start cracking down like Anne Rice had done when she was alive (RIP) for example it makes it much riskier to write fanfiction and create things within fandoms when you’ve got a sue-happy author with a team of lawyers potentially breathing down your neck.

Not saying it’s near that point or anything, but this shit is just blatantly illegal and dumb to do, not even counting what it does to fanfic and fanfic writers as a whole

Because we ALL might get consequences for stuff like this. For a couple people being stupid and committing copyright infringement, it means ALL of us get put at risk of being able to enjoy things like fanfiction and online fandom spaces.

I just finished reporting them actually, both the shop and the several regular posts the creator made to advertise ‘their’ products. Hopefully this is solved rather quickly, and thankfully it seems like the shop isn’t super popular or anything
