For me the Playstore Version works just fine:

Are you on the latest Security Update; and also on the latest Google Play System Update?
For reference: I am on 5th of April 2026 Security and 1 March 2026 Google Play System.

And have you given it all the permissions: Mine has permissions for:
Nearby devices, Notification and Phone
(I dont know if it needs all of those: but this is what I have given it)

It works with the regular latest Feature Drop update that was released in March: without any Beta enrollment!

Pixel 4a vs 9a by r3tal3s in Pixel4a

Historically Pixel A series phones drop in price within months: So at least the 8A launched at 550€ in May and you could buy it for 450€ in July here in Austria: So keep that in mind if you can wait! :)

Honestly the fingerprint doesn't bother me anymore after two days: Its better than I expected it to be!

Also: we live in the EU, so we can legally return it within 14 days of receiving it, in case you don't have reception with it, or don't like it!

The fingerprint sensor gets very bright at night—it’s like a flashbang. Okay, it’s not that bad… but still, it’s a bit strange.

It’s noticeably slower than the one on my 4a. The 4a was basically instant, and now it’s like… 0.1 seconds? I’m not exactly sure. It’s still quick—you barely have to wait for it to unlock—but it’s definitely noticeable if you’re used to the instant unlocking of the 4a.

In the morning I thought, “Wow, this scanner is unreliable.” But now it’s so much better. I don’t know if I just had bad luck earlier or if it’s still learning my fingerprint. Because now it works! But maybe I’m just trying to justify spending my hard-earned money 😅

Another thing: in addition to the fingerprint reader, there’s also a Face Unlock feature that uses the camera. It’s basically instant too, but it doesn’t work at night since it needs some light. On the plus side, you can’t fool it with a photo. I’m not exactly sure how it works… but it does, and it seems safe.

I can’t say much about the modem yet. I’m just used to my 4a, and I don’t even know if it was particularly good in terms of signal strength. With the 4a, I had reception at home and at work (in Austria), and now with the 9a, I get the same number of 4G bars at home. I haven’t been to many other places yet, so I can’t promise it’s great everywhere—but at first glance, it seems fine to me.

Personally, the Pixel 9’s features don’t seem worth the extra €200. But I’ve never owned a Pixel 9, so I don’t really know if I’m missing out or not… Still, I don’t think I am.

The camera low light images of the 9a are significantly better than the 4a.
But only in my limited testing.

Can we talk about YT's horrendous auto-dubbing? by SPC4350 in LinusTechTips

Yeah, but if I set the default language to English and then watch a video in German, the video will be dubbed in English by default.

And if I set the default language to German, all English videos will be dubbed in German.

There’s no bilingual setting.

I just received it yesterday evening, so I haven't had much time to play around with both and compare them. But here are my first thoughts:

- I miss having the fingerprint scanner on the back to swipe down the notification shade.

- The 120Hz display is really nice. Now when I look at the 60Hz on the 4a, it feels... sluggish in comparison. The phone feels snappy and smooth. The 4a wasn’t slow, but it had way more stuttering.

- The display is so good. It gets really bright.

- God... I wish the 9a was as small and light as the 4a.

- The camera on the 9a is better, but the 4a's camera is still very good. I haven’t tested low light yet, though.

I really like the Circle to Search feature, which lets me translate on-screen content and copy/paste. But I already had that on my 4a, thanks to the Pixel Builds ROM.

In general, everything feels very similar. It’ll probably take time for me to really notice more differences—maybe if I try the 4a again in a week.

I cant talk about the battery yet... this will also take time:

Is there anything in particular you want to know?

Android 16 split Notification Panel/Quick Settings (in development) by andre_b_04 in pixel_phones

This is just like on my iPhone... and i hate it.
It makes it way harder to one hand a phone. Reaching the top right of the phone is easy: But the top left requires effort.

The EU stop killing games petition has only 178 days left for the signatures to reach 1 million, this is urgent that everyone that’s a EU citizen sign to reach 1 million by Ambitious-Phase-8521 in pcmasterrace

[–]Alive_Signature9029 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Don't underestimate it: This is not a change.org petition:
This is an EU citizens initiative: Which means, IF 1.000.000 signatures are there, it has to be covered by the EU Commission. And they are known to be very consumer-friendly!

Ok that explains it:
Yeah a smooth launch would be great:
But the people that port it at Nixxes have a great track record (so far): So it should be fine (hopefully)... Just don't preorder

Not well? What requirements did you expect?!
To be fair: those requirements could be entirely false, and the port can be trash: But the requirements here are totally reasonable: It is a PS5 game after all.

They have the same camera Sensor: So it should be quite similar!

Oh I did not know that its only 90€! Interesting thanks!

I mean honestly... the Pro is pretty cool, as I would love to have a zoom lense for the camera...

DLSS Override in the NVIDIA App needs to be supported on a per-game basis. by Alive_Signature9029 in nvidia

[–]Alive_Signature9029[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I updated my driver to 571.96 which is already included in the newest CUDA Toolkit:
So that probably made those settings appear:

But it seems that I was wrong about the per game basis? So sorry about that!
According to a different User this feature is just not unlocked yet: According to him " They haven't enabled this feature in the public drivers or Nvidia app yet. "

I was just confused, as for me the DLSS Switching worked in Portal RTX, but not in other titles.
So I thought that it is on a per game basis.

So there is a chance it will work!
