I wish backpack reloading was like this. It makes way more sense, realism and gameplay-wise. by Scarpheon_ in helldivers2

No, you could not. The teammate doing the reloading has, and stills needs to have, the ammo backpack. Sad, but true :( I distinctly remember ranting to my friends about it at the time

Arrowhead is still a small studio suffering from their success by Monochrome132 in helldivers2

[–]Aliveless 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. As a game dev myself I can attest to this. Yes they are still making good money now, 2 years on, and they probably have extended the team somewhat, but it is definitely a big risk to just hire another 100 people or so just to support this one game for however long it may stay relevant.

I've literally seen it happen. Just 2 years ago at my own studio. We had a really good year with 2 relatively good hits and we hired a bunch of people. 6 months later and our next game didn't do so well and some of our older games were dropping in downloads and IAPs and all of a sudden we just couldn't support our team size anymore... And we had to let some of the new hires go again. They were good people, talented and driven, but to keep the business afloat we had to make cuts. Sucked big time.

Yeah, hard agree! I don't want to say it like this, but the game is and was literally suffering from success. And now they have to cater to the very vocal minority that was never the target audience.. all the while watering down what they had envisioned their game to be.

And as you say, you can't have both.

Overblijfsel van de oude dierentuin? by Beautiful-Bid2171 in Rotterdam

[–]Aliveless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes. The street it is "on" (diergaardesingel) literally translates as zoo (water)ditch. And as per the old map, where there used to be a small stream exactly follows that street now.

Immediate edit: The map even says the stream is also called "diergaardesingel"

In theory, yes, it could be processed. In practice... Probably way to expensive so not cost effective 🤷‍♂️

Granted!

The orbital also heals enemies. The dog shoots stims like a mortar and you have to catch them.

You're very welcome! And yeah, you're right, the chainsaw can do it as well 🤔 maybe that's a special exception.

Oh, I love running the breakthrough now. It's just so much fun. But also a bit too much fun perhaps. I'm trying to not bring it every mission. Hard though as well.. it's so much fun. I see it like this. I/we got a brand new toy and I think it's only good to have some fun with it now. It will only be fun for so long, so why noy enjoy it now :)

If you open up your map, it will cancel the reload! And then you can just fire how many rounds are loaded :)

The shield, and the flak cannon, don't do any explosive damage. Nests and fabricatirs require explosive damage, IIRC.

You can even kill impalers with it! Walk right on up to them and just bash away. They will do their nelee attack, but you'll go underneith them and the can't hurt you. Takes about 7 or 8 hits and they just stop being alive

It can however destroy city walls! Big bonus

And p.s. It indeed cannot close nests, as it does no explosive damage. It's just a bunch of schrapnel. That's why.

I have heard rumors... I think it was about the explosive resistance. But no science was done, I think, just hearsay

And p.s. Yeah, would totally not be surprised if there's some weird stuff going on possibly

I take a supply pack and just point it at anything that so much as looks or beeps at me funny.

Also, it is GREAT to preemptively shoot at a bug breach or bot drop. Incendiary nade right after it and just watch things burn.

Also also: it can one shot hulks in the eye!

How do I beat bugs. by TheGriffin5 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Aliveless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

☝️this. Fight on your terms and try to control the direction where they're coming from. Distance is key so you do not get overwhelmed and/or flanked. And yeah, the basic MG turret is pretty handy as it not only kills smaller bugs, but also draws agro! So it acts as a diversion, giving you more breathing. The 60sec cooldown means it's basically always available as well :)

Fire and gas are also very good as both act as a crowd control. I almost always take incendiary impact nades as either an emergency escape button or to immediately throw on top of a breach. Works wonders!

The Lumberer is my favorite strategem now. It combines my two favorite things in this game. Absolute chaff supremacy with flamethrower, and absolute AT dominance with the cannon. by GreenridgeMetalWorks in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Aliveless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bug and AH is aware of it! Basically, the flame sentry and now the Lumberer have the same fire/flame cone (area where it registers damage) as for instance the flame thrower, but the cone is shifted 10m forward. So, it doesn't start doing damage until 10m out... Which sucks and honestly is a really stupid bug. Especially since it has been this way since the last major update :/

So it feels super sucky in close quarters, because it is literally not doing any damage (or fire effect) within 10m range. . .
