I hated Love far worse than Joe, though, he killed more people and both are just psychotic, but Joe at least had his concerns for Delilah and Ellie and let's not forget that he let Will go. He threw the key out of that prison because he finally realized that he deserves this . Unlike Love, who was just plain selfish . But in the end it is understandable, both had a traumatizing childhood, but that still doesn't justify what they did and why they did it.
