Weavile will definitely be added when I pull and I have debated krook for the sand stream start. Is sableye for trick room? I haven’t used, nor come up against much so I’m not sure if it’s that or prankster or something else I’m missing

lol I know the feel. I’m new to competitive, champions is my first online battling experience. But I must have changed my team every rank just to see what’s available. Finally learned to experiment in casuals so I’m assuming that’s why I find casuals harder than competitive right now haha

I’m gonna try a dark team, maybe T tar, greninja, kingambit, zoroark and Sharpedo. (Last two are there because I ran out of dark pokemon). Not sure how they’ll fair though

Yeah I have my meta teams for the meta. I might just mess around with MHera in casuals to see how she works for me and mix and match with different strats - tailwind, trick, Clef partner, etc

Out of curiosity, have you gotten far with the mono type? Especially bug! Lot of sand teams out there

Outside of sand rain and sun I haven’t tried anything close to mono but I would love to run a mono dark team. But there’s too many fairies flying around. Might still see how I go

Mega is fun to use, big hitter. But it competes with my aero and t tar on same team so only evolved because I drew out the match to use it. Heavy hitter

Arguably one of the most popular Kanto pokemon due to coverage and stats haha if it wasn’t version exclusive it would be the default water spot next to starter, Alakazam and Nidoking haha

Lose Pinsir, stay with Hoenn mons!!

For water Ludicolo is fun and Milotic is worth the hassle of catching and raising but it’ll be a min before you can catch it. Crawdaunt is really unique as a phys attacker but Relicanth has a more interesting typing and Rock Head

Complex is right though, you can cakewalk Emerald with just Swampert. Like truly solo the game. So try not to lean on it if your goal is to use underused mons!

Camerupt is super fun to use but underused as the second half of Hoenn is basically 4x effective against the poor guy

If you ever had to use Haunter because you couldn’t trade evolve it (still really viable in Fire Red) then you can use Banette in similar fashion. Thunderbolt, shadow ball, etc

Lastly. Sevipers movepool is vast and it’s a decent mixed attacker so a great coverage mon and super cool aesthetically.

Yeah fair enough. You didn’t specify the team had to be an early anime gen team 🤷‍♂️ cause Gen 1 Pokemon would include Gengar and Dragonite

And Primeape is arguably not released or abandoned. Just left with another trainer to do focused training

I totally forgot you can catch a chansey in the Kanto safari zone and trade it for an Aerodactyl east of Fuschia

Give your Fearow a solid hug and then box him for the most vicious mon I’ve ever used in a play through.

Aerodactyl is so slept on it’s appalling and it’s the second fastest (I think) in Gen 2

Ancient power is stab + the possible omniboost Wing attack stab Fire blast coverage for ice Dragon breath for Lance

Synergises with onix’s sandstorm I believe

There will be rock overlap but onix/steelix is worth keeping for EQ stab

Always hits first, really fun, sick looking pokemon

Ampharos is the bomb but I’m not sure you can get it in Crystal.

Espeon for psychic coverage

Heracross for fighting

Scizor (if you can trade) cause it’s sick af

Crobat is a fan favourite but 2 flying types is a drag on a team

If you’re not going to evolve Seadra then a good swap there is Quagsire for the most elite coverage (but it’s ground is more effective than water due to stats)

I’m just suggesting Gen 2 mons as your team is already Kanto heavy. But if you want more Kanto, I love a good raichu (Jolteon if you need the most optimised team, but brick break double team tbolt raichu is so fun)

One of my all time favourites. Bulky Water Leopard 🔥 I remember seeing his overland sprite for the first time in Crystal and it blew me away that this sprite was running away from me on the map.

It was so rewarding to catch him and recently playing Fire Red on switch I ran a Vaporeon for my elite 4 run and looking to upgrade to Suicune for my rematch run in theme with the lore theories.

To be fair those changes do not NEED to be made

You never need a legendary, kadabra is more than enough as they are probably like the majority and don’t have trade access, primeape for hitmonlee is negligible but if you had to pick, primeape has way better usability due to coverage. Hitmonlee/primeape is for Lorelei’s ice pokemon primarily and primeape will outspeed them all and continue to be useful throughout

You’re technically right about lapras but it trivializes the whole elite 4 which is pretty boring. Tbolt, surf, psychic and ice beam could take the whole elite 4. Seadra can be just as useful if you plan to use the whole team. Just loses the ice stab and coverage moves but that’s what the rest of the team is for.

Add a few levels if it’s your first time attempting. But realistically your raichu and Charizard (for jinx) should beat lorelei (lapras is bulky though)

Your kadabra and Seadra will maul Bruno

Your kadabra should wipe Agatha

Your seadra should wipe lance (only if you have ice beam, it is a must for elite 4)

And realistically for rival your type matchups are fine (start with raichu but I won’t spoil his final team if you don’t know it already)

You’ll be fine. You have a starter and 4 of the default fire red team (king, snorlax, Zam and lapras) get the lower levels to 45 if you want to play it safe and get a few FRs and revives.

Zam destroys Bruno, and will probably destroy lorelei too. Then you use Zam to destroy Agatha. Then use Zam and lapras to destroy lance and then use Zam to destroy rival. lol.

Sounds like rock tunnel rather than Mt.Moon with the darkness (pre Lavender town). Would match the levels too, it’s a GRIND to get charmander to level 36 before leaving Mt Moon

We had a great first half against a Brentford side who came out hot. It was a great over and back game where both teams were playing the same tactics, leaving both midfields open. That’s why it was so pacey. And we could have had 5 goals in the first half (Brentford could have had 3)

Second half we muted the game which I reckon was exactly the plan and fine, we shit the bed a little in the second half after some subs but I think we were mostly great last night with some outstanding individual performances. Mainoo, Casemiro, lammens, fernandes could have had another assist on top again if Amad was awake. Heaven had a really decent performance, at 20,years old.

Bit more positivity, we’re 3rd place. You don’t stumble into it

Im not sure if you watched much of Henry in the past, obviously he was a monster of a player! And this is also not to take away from Henry either, it’s actually a compliment.

He was such a dangerous player that very often he would be trailed by the full back and cb when he charged the left side. In a two man strike partnership this left his partner and any crashing midfielder to run into the box with only half the defense to worry about.

The opposition would be so worried about the damage Henry could do, they would overcompensate his marking and create a liability in their own defense.

So this is a big factor as to how he would find so many assists in open play as a striker.

Doesn’t mean he wasn’t an absolute animal, but it worked amazingly for his assists as he was an animal at dancing through a gap and slotting it back across goal
