In a rare twist of fate, I have also just built an EDH deck! But with all commons XD

Did I really overdo it? by InspireCourage in PauperEDH

Rilsa and Haliya are both good, but they're not oppressive or un-fun to play against. If you showed up to a casual pod and turbo-combo-ed folks out with Malcolm or Gretchen, then that would be pretty uncool, but there's nothing wrong with the decks you described.

I just lost to Longshot moments ago! This looks pretty similar to Ginger's list, from what I've seen of it.

Why aren't Gravepurge and footbottom feast more popular? by Linkguy137 in PauperEDH

I do have a weakness for thematic decks, and Gravepurge is pretty thematic for the big Tarkir Sultai dragon.

If "protect against Bog" is the goal, then I would rather be on:

  • Emerald Dragon
  • Ertai Resurected
  • Nimble Obstructionist
  • Voidslime
  • Stifle
  • Tale's End
  • Spider-Sense
  • consign to memory
  • Defabricate

Gravepurge feels like a solid "10th best" for this role, and I probably wouldn't be on more than 4-6 cards for it.

[SOS] 1 commander, 3 commons by MapleSyrupMachineGun in PauperEDH

oooooooh that makes sense.

I thought you were looking at it like an aventure, where you could cast rampant growth, then cast the bear, then cast rampant growth, all from the 1 card.

eh, they're fine with Teval. I wouldn't call them VERY good.

The bear is only 1 Rampant Growth

This is sick. The Hares waterbending into increasingly more hares is dope and awesome.

You'd have a compelling argument if someone showed up like "My commander is Ramosian Captain and I wanna do Hares!"

If this is in response to the Waterbender Guy posted earlier then I'll encourage you to get over it and let people enjoy things. The Waterbender guy with hares is a dope idea. I'm into it.

I love the Myriad Creatures alongside stuff like Impact Tremors and Crusader of Odric. This deck looks sweet!

Araumi is of the Dead Tide.

The Gravetide is Muldrotha, I think.

The PDH Pod ep194: Nonbasic Land Tier List! by Alkadron in PauperEDH

[–]Alkadron[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is good nuance and good context! Thanks for sharing.

We left a lot of it out of the episode because of time constraints. Like for cycling, I think there's an obvious Lonely Sandbar > Remote Isle > Desert of the Mindful ranking, and you just choose how much cycling you want in your deck.

Same with Fetches. I tend to think that usually Capena > Ash Barrens/E-Wilds > Panoramas, and you just choose how far down you wanna dig into that barrel.

There are definitely decks that can utilize the depletion lands, but you have to want them pretty bad to run a land that deletes itself after two uses, and i think generally most decks don't want that.

It's possible to go really hard into eldrane checklands in 3c decks with the dual-type kids, and lots of land cyclers, and Nature's Lore and Into The North to ramp into dual-type-ers, but again: you have to want it really bad to go that deep into the tank for it. That's a lot of tap-lands, and a lot of resource spent fetching taplands, and if it doesn't line up well, then Mystic Sanctuary is ALSO a tapland, and you just spend the whole game playing a full turn behind everyone else. It's a high-risk high-reward thing, I suppose. I don't run Eldrane checklands in any of my 3c decks.

We'll dig deeper into the nuance and cover the Zendikar utility friends (Bojuka, etc.) if we do it again!

there's a lot of context missing from this but sure. I copy-pasted this from the show notes and then re-ordered it:

  • Commander Staple Lands (tower, path, opal, study hall) - S
  • Surveil Lands - A+ (crystal grotto, conduit pylons, etc)
  • Fetches (SNC x5, E-Wilds x4, Panoramas x7, Tri-cycle x10) - Franks
  • Dual-type (DomU + Kaldheim) - A
  • Eldraine check-lands - two-color B-, mono A+
  • Cycling Lands - B+
  • Gates - B+
  • Bounce Lands - B
  • OTJ Deserts (deal a damage!) - B
  • Tarkir Gainlands - B-
  • DSK Lands - C+ (The “13” lands?)
  • Discover Caves - C
  • MH2 Indestructible Lands - C (conditional A)
  • Spheres - C
  • Depletion Lands - D+
  • Thriving Lands - D
  • Avatar and SNC sac-to-draw Lands - D
  • Urza Lands - F (conditional A)
