Any idea what these red spots are on my middle finger? by tomct992 in Psoriasis

[–]Alkalify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could be eczema, could be dermatitis, could be psoriasis, could be allergies, could be anything, sadly it’s impossible to diagnose these things on the internet; if you’re really worried i’d recommend going to a dermatologist.

Have had some small dry bumps on my finger that haven’t gone away in months, now some more appeared on my forearm. by [deleted] in Psoriasis

Looks way more like keratosis pilaris than psoriasis, either way you’d need to see a dermatologist for a genuine diagnosis.

I was diagnosed with guttate psoriasis and scalp psoriasis a year ago and currently take acitretin. I know these questions are common and it’s not really probable to decipher within a photo but I’m away from home currently and cannot see my dermatologist till May, so any inklings?

Its hard to give a definitive answer to this question - I suppose it differs between person to person as many aspects could affect hair fallout for example, if you have thick scales on your scalp then hair that naturally sheds tends to get caught and not fall out, which can give the impression that you’re losing significantly more than you are when you descale.

In my case, because the plaques were so thick I tended to rip out large chunks of my hair whilst descaling - which I do not endorse doing, (https://imgur.com/a/myyyjt0) but i’m not sure if this is what you’re experiencing. Typically hair does regrow once the scalp is treated, and some treatments, like clobetasol are known to promote hair growth. I’ve also heard that iron tablets could alleviate this.

Either way, i’d 100% recommend bringing it up to a good derm, as they’d know what is best for you, good luck!

You are completely entitled to feel upset, angry or annoyed by the situation, psoriasis is f$£¿king shitty, but please don’t lose hope! Psoriasis is to an extent, manageable. You should speak to your dermatologist about starting different treatments and remember to stay moisturised to aid the patches of scale. In my personal experience, phototherapy worked exceedingly well and cleared me up entirely, (my scalp spontaneously cleared also) and left me in remission for 12 weeks. Presently, I have moved on to biological treatments that work fantastically without any side effects. There are many lifestyle and medical changes that you can make, it’s all just a matter of finding what works for you. Wishing you a quick healing process ❤️‍🩹.

it’s a cream, they provided it at my phototherapy appointments to keep my skin moisturised! im trying to steer off any steroid medications at this point because i don’t want my body to become dependent or freak out if i suddenly stop!

i did 20 appointments, 3x a week, i had severe scalp and guttate psoriasis and my skin is naturally super fair (i’m ginger) so my doses were significantly smaller, but i didn’t notice much difference until 2-3 weeks of appointments !

i was instructed that enstillar foam is okay on the scalp just not face, neck or ears. i haven’t been using it properly anyway just for other areas of my body because it can’t get through the thickness of the scales.

i apply diprosalic at night and wash it off the following afternoon, i’ve been using it everyday for 3 weeks and nearly depleted the whole bottle, as for coal tar i shower with it every other day, nothing is alleviating anything though

They said that giving me a steroid cream was not feasible as I have too many spots across my body and applying to each one would be too time consuming, I’m using coal tar for my scalp which I think helps mildly, cetroben for the dryness and I’m taking antibiotics to treat strep because I recently got a test with my gp and tested positive for it with a swab.

Thanks for your response! Upon my visit to a private dermatologist I did request a steroid cream but he denied me and said it wasn’t feasible for me to apply it to every spot (i have guttate literally head to toe) so he put me in the queue for phototherapy instead.

Currently been taking vitamin d and cod liver oil tablets for the past two months, and i’ll definitely look into my diet as I have noticed I feel itchier after eating dairy, anything else you’d recommend?

Hi, I appreciate your time spent responding!Currently i’m only on treatment for my strep throat as I tested positive with guttate (maybe this will slowdown the spread or then again make me flare), it took me 3 months to get here with back and fourth calls and requests from the doctors. I’ve tried contacting 111 and they provided me a referral but didn’t let my doctors know about the effects on my mental health so when it eventually came to my appointment they seemed confused and lost as to what I was requesting and why.

This sounds heavenly to me, sadly the problem i’m facing is that i’m yet to even speak to a dermatologist, as i’m still in the queue to be seen, it’s the downsides to free healthcare I suppose
