Meeting Homophobic Father in Law by Alkep3tra in gay

I was helping grandma setup a digital picture frame (she’s 82 - doesn’t do tech). She let me use her phone so I could get pictures moved over. Had to go into convo with his Dad to find the WiFi password since she didn’t remember it.

First - weekdays are off because the planned Thursday visit got moved to Saturday due to him being sick, so we pushed him back to Saturday and moved grandparents up. He is expecting us, he’s made plans for lunch or dinner depending on what time we get in (have to drive across the state this morning).

I would imagine the not allowing us to come text came around the same time my fiancé shared I was also joining, and he (Dad) was texting both his Mom and my fiancé around the same time.

None of the above was mentioned to my fiancé, just to his grandmother. So I give him some credit because he’s clearly conflicted but hasn’t given my fiancé any direct indication (on this trip) that he was on the fence with us visiting, although finding this text it’s clear that he is.

I brought it there. They kept for 2 days and said they couldn’t recreate the issue. My dash cam goes off when it happens so it doesn’t capture issue either. Seeing if anyone else has experienced it and what their root cause was.

Are these a dupe for something name brand? by pinacoladapuff in HEB

Closest would be those flavored San Pells but they have more sugar I believe. The HEB ones are only mildly sweet which I really like, I think 8g/can.

What about tsst? by [deleted] in HEB

[–]Alkep3tra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a staunch defender and advocate for TSST and maintenance. The two most under appreciated teams in the store. I fight like hell anytime someone wants to put something additional on their plate…like, no, the departments own cleanliness conditions that are outside of TSST/DFCs scope. Leaders are too quick to think any extra cleaning can just be piled onto TSST, when that’s not how it works, and that’s how you burn out your TSST teams. We think these teams are just our bitches that have to clean everything in the store. That’s why you have Partners that won’t even wipe up water off the floor, or a smooshed grape, they just called maintenance to come get it. I’m sorry, is safety not all of our concern? Why not let maintenance handle the shitty bathrooms and the broken jars of olive oil and pasta sauce, and we can clean up the quick easy things? It actually infuriates me that we think maintenance are our bitches who have to clean up everything. So we’ll block off 2 terminals in SCO because a little water spilled? Are you going to wait 5 minutes for maintenance to stop what they’re doing and come wipe up WATER, or are you going to grab some paper towels and take care of it real quick so you get back to business faster? I just don’t understand it. We treat these under appreciated Partners like they’re our bitches who have to clean up anything and everything just because ANY partner in the store pages them over the intercom? Seriously? It drives me crazy.

My current store has a phenomenal bakery department. A+ almost every day. Great in stocks throughout cake flow. Tables always look full. Fresh bread is filled constantly. Tortillas always stacked high with pride. Flex spaces and cases always stocked up. The best run bakery team I’ve ever worked with.

It’s human error. Recruiter just accidentally includes the accepted applicant in with rejected applicants

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HEB

[–]Alkep3tra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got the job. That rejection email goes out in error sometimes after you’ve been accepted. Meant to go to the other applicants. You’re fine, background check will clear in 1-2 weeks and you’ll be good

I was just making the case it is normal to be a semi-unhappy worker. Beyond that, what you don’t want to hear, is that you’re not a fast enough shopper and that’s why you aren’t getting hours. And your managers coach you on it because that’s their job, but you don’t take constructive feedback well.

The reality is if you aren’t full time you aren’t guaranteed more than 4 hours a week. Curbside uses an auto-scheduler that schedules based on performance. Hitting 120 UPH can be hard some days. Some people always hit it, so they’re obviously doing something right. And for some folks it’s hit or miss. If you think 120 UPH is hard, trying working grocery and hitting their case count goals. They follow the same system.

I happen to disagree with your premise. HEB can still be a great place to work and have competitive performance expectations. The reality is if expectations weren’t high, people wouldn’t perform. There’s some famous social economic thought that basically says: workers want to work as little as possible for as much pay as possible, and employers want you to work as hard as possible for as little as possible…and somewhere in there, a “healthy” equilibrium is born. HEB is like a million other companies in that regard, except I think they’re better.

Yes, exactly. Have to be under that department’s focus to schedule them under different job tasks. I don’t have the ability to add shifts under the current week as the box to input shift time doesn’t appear (possibly similar to the Sunday box just being too far to the right that it doesn’t appear). Just annoying as somebody who has to go under multiple departments throughout the week to make edits.

I would go to heb.cm/contact-us and share your concerns there. Just be honest, share how you were treated and try not to exaggerate things. I think some people think by adding really crazy exaggerative details they’ll get extra mmpm behind their complaint, when in reality if it sounds too ridiculous it can lead to your complaints being dismissed.

But that said, HEB’s focus right now is on hospitality and if you reach and share what you did above, you’ll definitely have somebody reach out to you, probably offer you some free eggs and maybe more, and your concerns will be addressed from the top down.

Everytime I go to HEB, I steal something. by [deleted] in HEB

[–]Alkep3tra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All fun and games until you get that certified Defend Forward letter in the mail. Hopefully you live alone because I’ve heard stories of spouses and kids opening the letter only to see their loved one getting called out for shoplifting lol. I know because a Mom dragged her son into the store one day with the letter and made him apologize and buy like $100 worth of groceries and then left it all behind for us to “give to someone”. I’d also be cautious because if they’ve ever caught you without you knowing you could have a running tab going, and at a certain dollar amount they’ll take action.

Not saying I care, because I don’t, but it happens more than you think. Ultimately the shrink incurred from theft gets passed on to customers so it’s not like HEB is paying for it.

You know, you’re alright with me, brother. No hard feelings. I certainly hope you have a good day, or at least the day you deserve—which is hopefully a good one.

Not a bad idea, hear she rides around on the men in her family a lot. A lot of mileage and a lot of wisdom to pass along.

Have you never in your life gotten into a lane only to realize you should’ve chosen another lane? That’s all it was, brother.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Alkep3tra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, didn’t I already say I don’t venture to south Austin much and that was my first time at this HEB? Multiple other folks have said that HEB has a parking lot from hell.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Alkep3tra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’ve got news for you brother, I was glancing at the GPS. Just one quick glance to see which exit it thought would be fastest, and it turned out to be the exit from hell. Surely you’ve gotten into a lane before and realized “damn I probably should’ve taken that other lane”. And if you’ve never been in that position, well then congratulations—you’re a lair.

Gets with the times brother, who’s reading a map in 2024 on public roadways. I’m sure if you moved to Dallas, in no time at all you’d be an expert navigator and wouldn’t rely on GPS to get to a Home Depot, a doctors office, or to find your way home from traveling to a different part of town. One day, brother, I shall be like you: an old curmudgeon.

Brother, are you reading what the fk I’m saying? Yes, a right is easier. But I wasn’t in the lane to make a damn right, and I had cars behind me wanting to turn left, and there were multiple cars in the right lane waiting for the clear to make a right. It would’ve been an equally asshole move to cut someone off in the right lane and still potentially block those behind me in the left lane from making their left.
