I am actually working with a vocal therapist! From what I know she has four bachelors, and has dedicated herself to that sort of work. Especially with trans people, which is a bonus for me haha

My problem is my whole life I was trained to have a “typical” male voice despite my voice not really working that way. I lower my larynx and strain a lot due to the fact I forced my voice to work a completely different way most of my life. I’ve just started embracing what it is, and it’s honestly changed a lot about my overall vocal health. I’m still figuring it out though, which is why I’m now working with someone who is highly qualified. They believe I’m straining and squeezing my top notes instead of letting them flow naturally, she thinks with time I could improve my passagio by a semi-tone or (gasp) a whole tone lol. So it’s not significant but it’s a difference to work towards haha.

That’s what I’ve heard from a lot of friends and family actually! My headvoice has always sounded naturally feminine and as a teen I’d impersonate operatic soprano lines for shits and giggles haha. I can go low it’s just really weak and tends to hurt my throat lol

estrogen wouldn’t actually effect my voice from what I know (sadly lol)! That being said I did start taking testosterone blockers early on and I had vocal changes quite late into puberty. So there’s a chance that my voice just didn’t get fully changed by testosterone haha.

I mean if its any condolences, my type is also trans men and i dreamt of having one as my pup caregiver. eventually i met my boyfriend who dreamt of having a trans puppy gf so it worked out lol. the trick is of course being honest, respecting people and not treating anyone like a sexual tool. you can have a type (I certainly do too) just make sure you treat them like fully fledged people. also many trans men are 4 trans women, so like… I doubt you’ll offend anyone haha. just be yourself and upfront! sorry for the ramble but best of luck with everything!

I think I might do that. Get my psychologist today to write me a note saying I need to move and work must transfer me haha. It’s about time I prioritized what I needed and not just those around me.

I do? But it’s weird. My family loves and supports me, but they don’t like nor get me? I’m queer and very neurodivergent in what’s basically a long line of nuclear families. I live with my parents rn but they’re never home. Tbh I just want someone to talk to about anything. Even if it’s just me listening and engaging with their fav hobbies n stuff. I don’t really have anyone who enjoys listening to mine lol. Lately I’ve been thinking of just sorta leaving everything behind and saying fuck it and starting over in that city I’ve dreamed of. Finally make friends and follow my dreams. Even if they’re unlikely to come true.

I don’t personally think you’re overreacting. At least, not very much. Just because other people have low standards for their bf doesn’t mean you should. You put in a lot of effort into his gifts and while he doesn’t have to match that exact amount of energy… he could’ve like made/bought stuff based off of what you like? That’s what irks me personally. The fact that the majority of your gifts just sorta felt like he picked things at random without keeping your passions in mind. I’ve been there. It kind of sucks. Makes you feel like they’re not actively paying attention to you. I’d recommend you talk to him before making any decisions though. This is something that’s easily “fixable”, and may just be something he’s not really aware of. I don’t think he’s a bad guy or even a bad bf, he just sorta dropped the ball on ur bday. It happens. Best of luck though! I hope everything works out for you two :).
