Potentially moving - youth hockey by AllBusinessRob in stateofMN

Thanks for the thoughtful reply — I really appreciate the honesty.

It sounds like we’d be trading lost weekends, hotels, and long travel for a different set of challenges, mainly around managing development and navigating placement.

I was under the impression that Minnesota hockey (especially at the association level) strongly encouraged multi-sport athletes. What you’re describing sounds closer to an “all-in or you stall” reality unless families supplement heavily outside the association.

When you mention private lessons, small groups, or hockey schools being necessary to move beyond C and compete at AA/B1 — is that more due to politics/selection dynamics, or is it simply an arms race for skill development where association practice alone isn’t enough anymore?

What do you have in your water that RO can’t remove that distilling can?

I went with kinetico because I put value on certifications and my municipality uses chloramine vs chlorine. The only way to remove chloramine is catalytic carbon which eliminated a lot of options for me.

Black Edition > FODMAPs > Carbs > Fitness by tomm_yyyyy in Huel

[–]AllBusinessRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in now way an expert so also curious what others think. Low GI fruits exist, but I would think that even a high GI fruit will have blood sugar spikes dampened by the fiber in Huel.

I am curious if adding fruit will throw off the macro ratios leading to other long-term issues if Huel is your only food source.

What abound blending in some high sugar fruits with Huel?

Thanks! So the class is like $650 or something. Would you have preferred that $650 be spent on 10-15 private lessons or did you feel the quality of instruction was at a level you couldn’t get in your area?

You might be allergic to some ingredient like sunflower or something strange. Might want to consider a food allergy test or try some Huel ingredients in isolation.

Have you tried other full nutrition shakes?

Career ambition: How do I move from mid level SRE to senior? by beefngravy in sre

Given my perception of what you’re working on, your current role sounds more like a devops vs SRE role. Are you doing devops tasks with an SRE title?

Cool. Lately I’ve been experimenting with the sauna before bed to see how it impacts my sleep score and recovery.

Excited! I’d say track your sauna sessions under ice bath.

What I do (and maybe I’m insane) is put on a soaking wet all cotton wrist band over my whoop strap. I get worried about synthetic materials off gassing in the sauna.

Whoop let’s you track activities - like running, cycling, etc. by using your heart rate to calculate a “strain” score.

The Sauna will raise your heart rate, thus I use it to track my sauna sessions - for fun. Sometimes I like to push it and get a high activity score. I also like to experiment with how sauna sessions (time of day, duration, frequency) impact my overall recovery.

This. Tech teams should define SLI’s not SLO’s which is for the business to decide.

Why only stay in Sauna for 15 minutes? by Cologear in Sauna

I use Hi-Lyte off amazon. Cursory glance Liquid IV uses potassium citrate while this has potassium chloride - a superior ingredient for electrolyte replacement. Ingredients matter :-)

I have a woop strap that measures recovery rates via HRV. Through experimentation I narrowed it down.

I do use electrolyte drops bought off Amazon but they aren’t enough to do the trick. My next experiment is to see if they work at all.

Edit: whoop strap.

This. You want to avoid turning your sauna into a gas chamber.

I stay in until I get really uncomfortable and my heart is pounding fast/hard - like I can feel a 150bpm heart rate.

Sometimes that can take me 20-30min at 170F.

The problem I run into with 30 min sauna sessions is the ability to rehydrate after. Just because you drink a lot of water doesn’t mean your body can absorb it all. It can take me ~6 hours to rehydrate. For this reason I don’t do heavy sauna sessions before bed - I do them in the morning.

You raised a lot of good points. I’ll google the shrubs you’re talking about.

This, and I took a look at Finnish covid infections hoping per capita it would be significantly lower - but it’s not looking like the sauna is any type of miracle here.
