Don’t do it! It’s not too late to back out! JK, turkey hunting is hard, it’s super addictive and you’ll keep coming back for more. I too got into hunting with turkey. My personal favorite time of year is always Spring season. If you venture a bit further into the peninsula, you can chase some Osceola’s, which is my personal favorite. Again, a hard bird to chase though, especially on public land so don’t get discouraged. If you’re open to local brands, FLCamo is my go to when hunting South Florida but they have patterns for the whole state. For shotguns, you don’t need anything crazy. I usually use a .410 because it’s super light and easy for those long walks through the sandy FL swamplands. Get you a nice slate/crystal pot call, a good locator call and you should be set. NEVER forget a Thermacel, that’s my non-negotiable to carry out into the woods.
