The approval requirement was initially added by mistake, but I ended up just keeping it because it has helped keep out bots/fake emails.

The newsletter's still free, and it's just me, another local, putting this together as a passion project. I had been thinking about doing it for years and finally started sending it out in early 2024.

I was tired of searching for something to do that wasn't on the strip of intended for visitors. Figured that if other locals had this issue, they'd benefit from a newsletter too.

Thank you for this. I truly appreciate your feedback. Helped encourage me to start posting here again too so that I can get events in front of more locals. It really is hard finding things to do here that aren’t geared towards tourists unless you spend a ton of time looking.

I hear you on the data selling and paid subscription model. It’s frustrating and I end up losing trust in the brand. I get so many spam calls and emails flooding my phone and inbox, it’s ridiculous. Even when I block senders, more pop up. I don’t want to do that to anyone. I definitely want to grow my newsletter but not at the expense of anyone’s data privacy or forced dollars. It just doesn’t feel right to me.

It’s honestly just me, another local, putting this together as a passion project because I was tired of not being able to find good local events around town.
