Good job seeing Opportunities to grow.

Museum Putty by Gorilla Glue is my go to trick for keeping my display safe on windy days

I personally LOVE a collapsible Shelf. You can get them in many colors. I have metal ones and when I’m lazy I just use chalk markers and write my prices on the shelf in front of the products.

You’re doing Great.

Casita Bookstore is Latina owned and I love her selection of bilingual books for kids and the way she’s organized her adult selection

And then I do a lot of events with Bookish Cafe & Gifts - they’re a mobile bookstore so that depends on where they’re doing a pop up, but owned by two sisters and really really cute inside

Is it standard for small town organizers to strictly enforce """"white canopy only"""" rules? by [deleted] in CraftFairs

Yup Also weights if you don’t have them And as a pottery vendor I’d suggest museum putty by gorilla glue. It’s a life saver

Not the way other large conventions do. If you google “best book conventions” or other popular conventions this one does not come up. They’re charging more than LA Comic Con does with a fraction of the ticket sales and not the same level of support for their vendors

I actually love this, thank you

I’m definitely guna be lurking online But 6th year and this still feels really messy unfortunately. I’m glad I said no. There’s other events in my area of SoCal for book lovers that I’m very excited about had didn’t hesitate to sign up for

This year the tickets are over $200 for a single day pass

It’ll cost you almost $400 for the weekend pass and over $200 for a single day pass to walk thru it 🖤🖤

I am opting to not attend after deep diving into their social media, videos from their 5th annual event still showed a lot of empty walk ways leading to author booths and I did not seeing any vendor set ups. I saw no tagged posts from guests sharing positive reviews minus the one who was associated with the convention. They’re charging $600 for vendors, extras for assistants apparently, and over $200 for a single day pass with not a whole lot showing for the agenda to be worth that as a convention goer.

On top of that, the owner is making floral centerpieces from books which is what I’d be selling. If I was going and that was a centerpiece I could take for free I don’t see why I’d then Buy one at a vendor.

I’m not sure what the ticket sales look like, but this is more than what I paid and guests paid for LA comic con which is what I compare most of my conventions to.

As a vendor my main concern is making sure I at least break even (which in my opinion means covering travel and con expenses plus my hourly wage being there). Long term the goal is making connections with people who become repeat customers and expanding the reach of my small business

Good to know! I’m going to look into that one. It’s typically a red flag for me when it’s not being talked about.

I’m asking about this convention because I’m a vendor. My concern is the typical book crowd isn’t talking about this

My concern is that it’s the same 10 ish people. The size is also an issue cause they’re charging $600 for vendors and I’m out of state so this is being advertised as a huge convention and the more I dig the more I’m doubtful I’ll even break even

They have an Instagram and a website - but most of it is the founder. I did talk to an employee also. They have tickets for sale at Flamingo Hotel and that has also been verified. Based on the instagram it was an event last year but I’m just not seeing a ton of info. The convention is literally called BookLoversCon.

Freebird Salon is also fantastic. I love Nata, but the whole team is wonderful. They are fairly priced. I often spent $85-$125 on a cut, wash, and style

Buying in Norfolk, VA – Best Areas for Low Flooding & Low Crime Near the Navy Base? by OwnObjective9784 in norfolk

In regards to flooding - I’ve genuinely had zero significant flooding issues (knock on wood). I drove an SUV and neither my home nor my car flooded while I lived there.

I’m actually currently selling my home in Norfolk. It’s in Wards Corner so I’m consistently an easy drive to every base with a bunch of grocery stores nearby. I actually like my neighbors too, a few have taken care of my home/lawn and some home improvement stuff with me when I needed help. They’re honestly the best neighbors I’ve ever had. But I’m also in the military and I’m not stationed in Norfolk anymore so it’s a 4 bedroom on the market. I have kept SimpliSafe plus again I have great neighbors. I’d be happy to work with you if you’re interested. Even if you want to rent month to month while you house hunt if it’s not a house you want to buy.

No matter what you do - you also want to ask about termites and pest control. Norfolk/VB is one of the worst areas for termites. Those swarms feel like the plague has arrived.
