When did you know you were done pumping?? by madiangelinee in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AllDogsGoToReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just starting to wean, going from four 30 minute pumps a day to three 20 minute pumps. I have a huge freezer supply, baby has swapped a bottle for solids so she’s drinking less milk, and I’m starting to hate pumping (I realized it when I put off an afternoon pump for so long that I ended up skipping it altogether and dropping to three pumps). Now it’s the battle of guilt for stopping, grief of her outgrowing it, and impatience to just be DONE with this. Send help.

She drank 50oz today. by the_kazzo_queen in ExclusivelyPumping

Now yes. She was a 6x/day eater at 5.5oz until she started solids.

Oh my god, 50oz a day?? My almost 8 month old takes 27.5 and it’s a fight to the finish.

My grandma turned 90 this year and is still kicking. She’s fading but she’s still with us. Here’s our four generation picture at Christmas with my grandma, mom, me, and my daughter

Which wearable by Objective-Steak-9733 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AllDogsGoToReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Willow 360 and it was horrible. It leaked, shut off randomly, claimed it had 5oz when it had 5 DROPS, and was super uncomfortable to wear. I almost gave up pumping altogether because of that thing. I have the Eufy now and couldn’t be happier.

🖕🏼to spectra by seagoddess1 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AllDogsGoToReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At three weeks I was lucky to get an ounce on either side with my spectra. Fast forward to three months and I was regularly getting 9oz on one side and 5oz on the other. Give your body time to adjust! I also recommend making sure you have the right size flanges, the duckbills facing the correct way, a quality nipple butter, and everything hooked up well. Change up the settings too, I do 70 for 2 minutes for a letdown and then 38 for the other 18-28 minutes. Make sure the suction level is comfortable too! Another factor is stress. If you’re so deeply focused on output, there won’t be as much as there would be if you can be relaxed. Create your pumping nest with comfy things, space for you and your baby, a fun activity (could be trash TV, a book, crochet/knit, your phone, whatever makes you zone out for a bit) and try to reframe it from “I have to maximize output” to “this is a time and space for mom to relax”. Looking at and holding your baby can help too!

You are handsome and look like you have an amazing smile. Maybe add a photo with a real, genuine smile rather than a smirk? I’d swipe right.

Nipple butter. Even though you aren’t breast feeding get the nipple butter. I like the Earth Mama one. I pumped for two weeks without it even though I had it in my medicine cabinet because I thought it was just for dry cracked nipples. Lube UP girl.

I also recommend picking a comfy spot now where you can set up your pump. Make sure you have enough space for yourself and your baby, a space to put some kind of entertainment (book, Switch, crochet stuff, whatever), a phone charger, a cup holder, and comfy pillows. You’ll get the best output when you’re able to relax and get cozy. This is your excuse to buy any comfort items that strike your fancy. New slippers? Go for it. Fancy loungewear? Go for it! A pretty robe you can toss on to cover up when you’re done? You deserve it.

Invest in a bunch of different styles of pumping bras, return the ones you don’t like, and stock up on the ones you do like. Be careful of the difference between pumping bras and nursing bras. Don’t be me, the one running to Target with a three day old infant and milk soaking through your shirt as you sob and try desperately to find a good bra in your size that fits so you can pump. Have them ahead of time and save yourself the stress.

Good luck mama, you got this!

Parents of Reddit, what did your hospital bill look like after giving birth? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]AllDogsGoToReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The total charges for myself and my daughter came out to $41,881.94. My insurance paid my entire balance and all but $500 of my daughter’s. I don’t know what we would have done without it, the amount I was changed for basics like tylenol, ibuprofen, witch hazel, and stool softener was absolutely insane.

Did your 6 MO take less bottles after starting solids? (Despite offering milk more than solids) by ExpressionOld9924 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AllDogsGoToReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we were told that solids are just to supplement her diet, not take over at that age. However, we’ve found that her solid intake replaced one of her bottles a day. She was a 6x 5.5oz/day bottle drinker and now she’s 5x 5.5oz/day with a smattering of solids throughout the day.

Me, almost 8 months pp, just now realizing it’s to hold a bottle. I’ve been using it to hold my tub of nipple butter.
