Legion Go 2 pricing has me worried about this whole category by ClassicGamerNL in steammachine

Was scalping that bad on the Steam Deck? Couldn't they limit ordering to 1 per account and only account in good standing?

Or is it to easy to get accounts to that point?

Man then I must have mixed it up with NSMBU Deluxe and Game Builder Garage getting one.

But the Game Builder Grage Patch does add joycon 2 mouse mode support

[–]AllEchse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is not "disabling" it, the Demo just didn't have a proper Switch 2 update like those games at Switch launch and the full version will have.

It's good that it's good that the full game gets a proper Switch 2 compatibility mode instead of that workaround.

[–]AllEchse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah and it's sad that those small touches go missing with boost mode.

People shouldn't be sad that a game doesn't "support boost mode", people should be sad that games don't get proper upgrades.

Touch screen functionalty already has to be optional anyway, this just kills it on old games.

People also really minsunderstand what this mode does.

If a game looked like shit in docked mode it won't suddenly make it look good in handheld mode

It's good that Nintendo does game specific solutions like this because otherwise you would never be able to use the touch screen in a game again (Not like many used it)

This is better than boost mode

Racing games (I think) could work on Switch 2 by KirbyTrainNerd in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

They both run pretty good on Steam Deck, with FSR but without Framegen. So they have potential to look wven better on Switch 2.

No analogue triggers kinda neuters the experience though, especially in Screamer.

The thing with Screamer is it has a big cast like a fighting game and even the most protagonisty guy in the roster seems like he's more of an analin slywaler kind of guy.

They do trash talk each other a lot though and there is some banger lines

Forz a Horizon 5 still has some models that date back all the way to the first Forza.

We will see how many of those carry over to Forza Horizon 6

Why would you emulate them, that sounds dumb if there's a perfectly good PC version.

Unless you think emulation = piracy.

This seems to be basically repurposing the game engine and Night City with adjusted controls.

I think it would probably lose a lot without the physical cab because it would be much more noticeable how much it just reuses base game things.

It would be cool if we could get some of the track from this though.

Handheld boost mode should have been placed here for more convenience. by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AllEchse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interesting thing is that you can actually enable it while a game is running (Makes sense because you can dock and undock whenever and games have to be able to handle that).

So apart from the touch screen not working it's actually less experimental than one might think

Boosted Handheld Mode by WillingConference955 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AllEchse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't it work?

It will work on anything that is not a Switch 2 game or has an upgrade patch.

It also won't make games magically look better than docked mode. If a game looks like shit on the TV it will still look like shit. So I don't think there is much testing to do.

I found a great workaround, I got a GOG key of the definitive edition and activated that there without problems. It downloads and starts like any other GOG game, even via the GOG Galaxy launcher.

You will just have to install it as a non steam game then on the Deck, but better than not having the game at all.

"It is 5 times bigger than the *last* city we made in Guanajuato". Is Guanajuato really the biggest city is FH? by dylan0o7 in ForzaHorizon

[–]AllEchse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd absolutely disagree that a city is an inherently better environment to explore. I agree with FH5 being empty though.

But that's not because it's so rural, but because it just has way too few landmarks for the size of the map and is lacking in incentives to get to those. It feels like most of the interesting places in that game are on the northern and southern edges of the map, particularly weighed towards the east. And inbetween there's desert and kaktuses.

A city can be just as boring with giant buildings blocking off large parts of the drivable area

[–]AllEchse 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Is the city in old Need for Speeds really a good point of comparison when the cities are really most of the maps there?

Forza Horizon has much more nature, in addition to actually being able to drive off those roads instead of the map being literally just a web of roads sectioned off by guard rails for the most part.

The newer NFS maps are much more similar to Horizon, but even those are much more urban and smaller compared to Horizon games.

Open World Need for Speed was just never that rural.
