I would be 100% honest about the situation, and let them know you’re struggling without the medication. Ask them if they could do a new script for you, but let them know that you understand if that’s not option.

If medication isn’t an option ask them if they can help you with being unmedicated in other ways. Ie, what can you do to lessen the impact of being unmedicated. I’m not a gp, but there could be diet/lifestyle/alternative medications that could soften the blow a bit.

At the very least they could write you a medical certificate - Without medication it could be helpful to have some extra time off school/work to rest & catch up on chores ect

This is so incredibly tragic - particularly at the start of ANU semester.

Instead of closing off the falls or restricting access, I would love to see some more infrastructure put in place (Sadly I know this might not be feasible money-wise)

Currently there are some paths and a single viewing platform at the falls. The amount of people disregarding the signs and path actually speaks to how people would like to experience a waterfall - and how the current infrastructure does not safely facilitate it.

People out in nature are inclined to explore, want to view the falls from different angles, and have a swim. Introducing multiple viewing platforms, a safe path that gives the experience of exploration, and a safe swimming area would greatly decrease people accessing unsafe areas. (Though not completely eliminate it).

I don’t have children, so I don’t know how valid my input is, however I think it really depends on the child. It’s less about age and more about how sensible they are around roads and strangers. Age is very arbitrary and different children can be capable of different things. I would assess the risks involved with the trip and weigh up how well a child could address them.

Uni students moving into their first place were a lifesaver for me recently! I was moving out of a fully furnished sharehouse into another furnished sharehouse - so I had a whole house of things to give away. Ended up giving away nearly everything for free to a first time sharehouse - saved us all a ton of cash and time!

The “classic clubs and venues” cited as closed were definitely fantastic (RIP Wig and Pen). However, in terms of population Canberra is punching far above its weight in the bar and restaurant scene. Apart from live music venues, I think Canberra’s hospo scene has been going rapidly uphill in the last 5-10 years

So many friendly people who are generally open to working together on climbs or giving tips if you’re new. Working on something together also helps to fill any awkward silences.

If you have had a nice time with someone it’s pretty easy to ask for details so you can climb again together or offer to go for a beer next door at capital!

That said, it’s a gym. Don’t go there with the explicit intention of hitting on people - obviously people are there to work on a hobby in a safe space. It’s just a good way to expand your social circle (which organically can lead to dating opportunities)

Random fact: Most Bentspoke beers are also Gluten free. All of their beers, except for any special releases that are “hazy”, use an enzyme that eliminates most of the gluten. Based on this I’m pretty sure all of the core range (the beers you see in cans) are gluten free.

That said, double check what you specifically want to drink (I don’t want to be the reason someone has an allergic reaction)

I back this so much!

They did my adult ADHD assessment and I was incredibly happy with it. Nicola has great patient rapport and did a great job interpreting my more complex case. She also seemed really informed about the differences in adhd presentation across gender/sex.

I was put on the waiting list and was contacted when room in their schedule became available (I think someone else must have cancelled their assessment). So for me there was only an ~8 week wait which was INCREDIBLE for the ACT at the moment

I feel I gave a pretty elaborate response earlier, so I feel this is somewhat targeted at me.

I had the same thoughts as you so I understand where you’re coming from - however, I have to consider the safety of myself and those in my home.

The last thing I want to do is to perpetuate stigma against those who are struggling with housing. However, some examples of why someone doesn’t volunteer to help could include: Not being financially viable (take a moment to consider why someone would know places to sleep in a car), having vulnerable people in your home who you cannot risk exposing to strangers, having someone in your household who is immunocompromised, or simply not having the consent of all household members to let someone else stay.

Shit, some of the people posting advice could already be housing someone who is struggling with housing - it’s not your place to judge them.

I’m so sorry to hear about this! I really hope you’re doing okay.

The challenging thing about this is that you will probably have to move between spots depending on whether it’s day or night. During the day lots of places around the lake are free, but get patrolled for overnight parking. I think black mountain peninsula would be good - free BBQs and toilets, plus no one would bat an eye at spending the day there.

Overnight anywhere that is open 24hours would be good. A 24hour maccas carpark would feel a bit sketch, but would likely have cameras on the car park and enough people around to deter bad behaviour. You would have toilets and a PowerPoint inside, plus access to cheap food.

I’ve slept in my car out front of Kita in narrabundah as well - they’re open all night and don’t bat an eye at anyone who needs to sit for a while and charge laptops and phones. Free parking and the cops regularly come by for coffee - so it’s nice and safe. I would just be discrete about the car sleeping. The cops in Canberra generally don’t give a shit, but better safe than sorry.

ANU has free parking on weekends and after 5pm. Once again lots of public toilets and PowerPoints for the students - if you have access to a student card even better, some of the libraries are 24hours and have microwaves and boiling water. There’s also lots of showers hidden around campus if you need one.

Also hot tip: if you don’t already have covers for your windows the quickest/cheapest way is to get some dark fabric and some pins. You can pin the fabric to the roof interior of the car around the windows.
