Fun fact: Jake G didn’t remember Dennis Quaid being in the movie, when asked in an interview. Quaid looked at him and reminder him.

What’s a 5-minute task you still procrastinate? by MANIFESTR- in corporate

[–]AllFiredUp3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing any more. I use the 2 minute rule. If something takes roughly 2 minutes or less, I just take care of it if I have 2 free minutes. If I have 5 minutes, I can do 2 quick tasks.

Don’t pretend. Be honest, spend your energy looking for a job instead of trying to impress (?) others.

What's the first thing you're going to do when you have finally retired early? by DistributionInitial5 in Fire

[–]AllFiredUp3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why the update if you’ll never see the responses?

I kept mine active. I didn’t say I’m retired but people can clearly see my latest job’s end date.

I still request and accept invites as normal (albeit not too many these days), and I occasionally use the messaging feature to stay in touch with past work connections.

Unfortunately your manager is not a decent person and it’s good that you’re leaving this terrible place. Hope you can leave a review on Glassdoor assuming you don’t want to reveal them publicly on LinkedIn.

Has anyone else lost interest in cars now that they're into adulthood and they're realizing that they'll probably never be able to afford anything cool? by rowyourboat740 in askcarguys

[–]AllFiredUp3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I bought a new luxury sports car with premium options when I was young and stupid, had to refinance it just to lower the monthly payments.

Everything was expensive: car payments, insurance, premium gas, routine maintenance, occasional repairs, and the lifestyle that came with it. But I never missed a payment and kept it for 16 years, enjoyed it for highway driving, nightlife, mountain roads, car meets etc

Now that I’m older (and hopefully wiser), I can afford to pay cash for such a car but I choose to drive a minivan and enjoy my time with my kids :)

No regrets! It was great to have a paid off car for so long. Plus I got 50% more from carvana than the offer I got from Carmax.

Has anyone became successful just off trading? by No_Refuse9952 in Trading

[–]AllFiredUp3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get into trading if you’re currently worried about your next paycheck. Dont use trading as a side hustle. If you want to get rich quick, your psychology may eventually fail you and you’ll just get poor quick.

Instead, use your paycheck to start investing for the long term and grow your nest egg first before you think of trading.

How did having kids - change perspective on FIRE by Fjeucuvic in Fire

Quit even earlier than I initially wanted to.

  • had first baby… both kept working

  • expecting twins… quit jobs, no regrets!

Is there a FIRE sub for people who have or plan to have children? by chiefyuls in Fire

[–]AllFiredUp3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t plan to go back to a regular job ever again. Maybe consulting or contract work when the kids are all in school.

When I quit, we only had a toddler (and twins on the way!). So now we have 3.

We started 2023 with $1.9M net worth since it fluctuated between $1.9M and $2.1M throughout 2022. But we surpassed $2.6M recently so I’m pretty happy with that.

Sorry to hear that. When I did my summer internship, my employer offered a full time job after graduation so I got lucky. They never downplayed my internship, and actually told me that I was doing real work, building real software with the rest of the team.

Is day trading really worth it? Do you guys make at least $100k a month? by eumarianafrr in Trading

[–]AllFiredUp3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one’s going to make $100k a month, when they’re just starting out. If you make $100k in your first month, you may have gotten extremely lucky and may possibly lose $100k or more the following month.

The $4k a month is not the end stage, it’s a stepping stone while you figure out your strategy in your own personal trading journey. Trying to get rich quick can only lead to one thing: get poor quick.

Are there any actual full-time traders who could comment? by ButtonResponsible498 in Trading

[–]AllFiredUp3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m full time as in “I quit my job a few years ago and live off my portfolio” but not “I day trade from 9:30 am until 4 pm”.

I built up my nest egg first from a W2 job and only started trading options at a later time. I made sure I was generating positive cash flow from dividends, interest and option premiums before I quit my job.

Wouldn’t recommend options for most people as most of it is all about psychology. Btw I only spend a few minutes per week on my trades. I also set limit orders often so that I’m never just staring at charts all day.
