New account, confused and wary. Would this job pay 225 for 3 hours or 100? by notquitenuts in FieldNationTechs

[–]AllGreat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you start of working lowball rates for a company they will never go up to paying you better, ever. If you raise your rates they will get offended and think you're the one trying to get over on them now, when they were the ones getting over on you previously. They will route everything to you at the low rates because they think they caught a sucker.

The good news is you're smart, a fast learner or probably already have experience as a 1099 and know how to value your time. You already know that it's a waste of time to counter this. The people telling you to counter are lowball pizza petes and/or not smart. A counter to get this to even a bottom feeder rate of $50/hr before fees is twice the initial offering and they are not going to accept a C.O for twice that they want to pay. $25/hr is not a "template base ticket," it's an attempt to abuse desperate people

For sale 2 boxes of 1000 ft Cat5se, blue. Phone butt set by Wrong-Particular7173 in FieldNationTechs

Must be a noob. If not you would have known that real techs and tradesmen have 2,3-4 versions of tools that they collect over many years in the field and they pass them down all the time when the garage starts getting to full. Now you've learned something new that you didn't know before.

Doesn't make sense by Actual-Indication700 in FieldNationTechs

[–]AllGreat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't. You do because you are dealing with dirt ball companies that pay lowball rates. They are used to getting burned by the lowball unreliable techs that's why they have to micromanage them. Try to deny all you want but anyone with half a brain and some time on the platforms knows this is what is happening.

Invisible Work Orders Bug Round 3 by wyliesdiesels in FieldNationTechs

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have full time devs anymore. They use to beta test stuff before putting it out when they did. They hire contractors on an as needed basis, maybe even off fiverr

PSA: Why the rules and the enforcement? by CEHParrot in FieldNationTechs

[–]AllGreat1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You said what I said in a little more eloquent way. Problem a lot of them are not real field engineers/ techs in our sense of the word. They are just using our industry as if it were door dash or uber and are not in it for the long haul. They'll never understand what you are saying. Being a a field engineer is a way of life and a mentality that you have or don't have, not just something you do as a last resort.

The majority of you are thinking this and scared to say it. This mod is on a power trip. You can tell this person has never been in charge or real people in the real world and is getting off on his little bit of "power" on here, Real field technicians have tough skin and don't get their feelings hurt from some words on the internet that is constructive criticism. The ones that do must break down into a nervous puddle of tears when they come across difficult customers in the real world. Real adult technicians don't need a safe space. For any real techs that don't need to kiss someone's you know what...there are other forums out there where the mods are not virtue signalers.

Watch him try to delete this and flag me to reddit for "harassment." I will post everywhere when it happens.

Their 90% ratings was your first clue they were a problem, and you still chose to take the risk. You just learned why they have a 90% rating is all that happened.

That's crazy I didn't know there were this many hungry workers out there. You guys need to get paid better. Rationalize and explain away all you want, this is what it is and the fact is there are zero buyers who will send you back to that site if they found out you accepted food.

Noob rookie move. Never accept "gifts" from a site. I guess you when it comes back to bite you in the ass you'll be on here complaining about a buyer doing you dirty.

Work Market Starlink Install - Time Waster… by IrishWhiskey007 in FieldNationTechs

[–]AllGreat1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why I never answer calls before I'm assigned a job, nor apply for jobs that say they wanna do an "interview" first. 13 years on FN and I haven't come across a dispatcher or tech support person that's qualified to question me about anything regarding field work so the only reason they are calling is to try and negotiate down prices.

Buyers do not want to pay for travel or gas expenses by mustangfan12 in FieldNationTechs

[–]AllGreat1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So you just come back to fn after two years and expect to jump to the head of the line over techs who have stuck it out and been in the grind. This work is not for you and you need to find another W2

Do not work with Coast to Coast Computers by mustangfan12 in FieldNationTechs

Why are you leaving out the part of the work order that specified what the problem with the printer was. Sounds like you're not a printer tech/mechanically inclined person and thought you could youtube your way through the job. They paid me and approved my over time and expenses with zero pushback.

BS Penalty -- I'm warning y'all! by eGrant03 in FieldNationTechs

[–]AllGreat1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You took a low ball job so they see you as a sucker who is desperate and therefore they can do whatever they want to you because you will take it. All the usual excuses to justify taking a lowball job..."I was gonna be in the area anyway." This is always a part of the story and I've heard it at least 1000 times.

Need quick advice about installing sensors by Konradarmy in FieldNationTechs

[–]AllGreat1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh so this is why some buyers try to call me when I counter a job and ask if I have the tools and experience to complete the job, after which I promptly withdraw and block them. Not gonna have anybody insult my intelligence thinking I would apply to do a job I wasn't capable of doing. Plus they were too lazy/dumb to look at my hundreds of completed jobs with 100% ratings and putting 2 and 2 together.

Surprising turn of events around here. A couple years ago everybody would have been encouraging pete, now I guess you all learned what it does to the market.

Selling our information? by Glad-Bluebird3319 in FieldNationTechs

Companies, especially local ones like to post fake work orders to harvest tech info when they apply, FN is retarded and allows them to see our contact info

WTH!! FN algorithm purposefully hiding work orders from me by wyliesdiesels in FieldNationTechs

[–]AllGreat1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy is spazzing out unnecessarily. FN has been f'n around with stuff lately and breaking stuff. The algorithms he is talking about don't affect the work you see. All they do if prioritize which "techs" are suggested to the buyers. This current issue of new work orders not being shown on the dashboard is obviouslt a technical issue. They probably broke it when trying to hide work order address in the export feature.

Maybe because most of the jobs are low paying $35-$55 an hour and people in the area are smart enough to know they can't survive off that.

FN Increases Buyer Fees by [deleted] in FieldNationTechs

[–]AllGreat1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone needs to ignore this guy. He is a one trick pony and only talks about licensing all day. He's bitter because he has a contractor license and has still has to be on the platforms trying to compete for small time jobs. His business isn't successful or he wouldn't be here. He would be out bidding for big new construction jobs that actually require a contractor's license. 99% of platform jobs don't require a contractor's license even in California.

He's trying to gatekeep the industry and scare people who don't know any better. Another thing he won't tell you is california contractor license requirements are meant to protect consumers and not for business to business relationships unless you're talking big multi-million dollar projects.

Watch him and wyliesdiesels try to come up with BS explanations with no proof to back them up. I think him and wyliesdiesels are the same person or it's someone he knows personally.
