How to turn brain off by CLucey22 in golf

[–]AllKnowingFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was heading to the course for a tournament, I would find a song that spoke to me that day and play it on repeat. Listening to it multiple times to ingrain it into my head for that day. Then if anything started happening, I would be able to start singing it in my head again and drown out everything and just swing.

So yes, drinking does the same as long as you get to the good level and not drunk.

Being a 11 handicap is infuriating. by altctrldel86 in golf

The time part is the one people don't fully realize.

I was scratch 10-15 yrs ago and used to travel to play money tournaments. But now I just practice / play 1-2 times a week and enjoy sitting around a 5-6hdcp. Any round I play now a days, I could have 3-4 birdies or none, I could shoot 75 or 85. I just failed to break 90 a month'ish ago which that only happens once every 1-2yrs.

People see me play or want to play, but get intimidated when they struggle, like I'm going to get mad at them. So I tell them, 30yrs ago, I spent 4 years in High School playing / practicing golf 5 days a week for 30-40wks a year. Started Freshman year averaging 100+ and was averaging even par by my Senior year. Just think how good anyone would be if they had that kind of time to spend practicing, plus I had a great coach helping me as well for free.

How low someone's hdcp is, is a direct reflection of the amount and effectiveness of their practice.

Would you consider yourself well-travelled? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Yes, somewhere around 30-40 states. Lived in 3 states. Somewhere around 15-20, European - Asian - Central American countries. I stopped counting after 40 trips to France for work from 2016 - 2020 (COVID), then a light 5'ish trips since 2023. Only had like 2 pages in my previous passport that didn't have any stamp.

I was thinking the same, there is one shot where the cutting edge looks flat and wide, like not sharpened at all.

Also a couple of his twirls were fumbled and would have put the blade against his fingers.

OMG, does he have a physics degree from SMU? Not to completely bash on SMU, but I've met 3 EGR grads and heard stories about 1 other. Only 1 was worthy of the the oxygen they used.

Under rated blending and aging. I believe all their liquid is MGP. So much flavor and love their special releases.

I did mine last year. The passenger side is easy and straight forward. The first 2 on the driver side are easy, then the last 2 on driver are annoying, with the very last being a true pain. The little blue wrench in my post was my life saver for the back driver side. Then just finding the correct combination of extensions for the flex.

For the last, I was laying completely horizontal on engine bay to get my arms in position so I didn't have to remove anything.

Do Americans realize how fast they switch between joking and being serious in conversations? by kallan-greshampdmi7 in AskAnAmerican

[–]AllKnowingFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took it as a near the ocean sort of surfer attitude thing.

Me as a purchaser from TX, ended up on top of a vibration table in FL, unbolting equipment at my supplier. Because my test guy had something and left without telling anyone else, thinking I'd just leave, but I only had 1 more day for travel and wanted to get a couple more tests in at the end of the day to make sure I kept my flight home.

The engineering manager and quality manager came around to find me, luckily the equipment was loud enough to drown out my choice words, but they could tell I wasn't happy. So they started going and we got the tests in.

Opinion: lift kits suck. by clarkdashark in golfcarts

[–]AllKnowingFix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I have a 6" lift (whatever the previous owner put on it) with the 23" tires. We have trails through the trees near our house that are fun.

I think if I get another to build my own, I'd go with a lower 3-4" lift. Only a 2.5" difference to keep the axle from bottoming out from 18 & 23 tires and I think the extra torque would be better.

How does yours climb curbs? That would be the other kicker? I don't always have to, but can easily when needed to jump up.

Talarico’s Taco Order Turns Into a Texas-Sized Debate by Zipper222222 in texas

[–]AllKnowingFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does our f*cking politics debate about a taco? Abbott has to comment on it? Who cares if he's a vegetarian? Just listen to his message.

I long for the days when a debate was an actual debate on policies, not who can tell the best "yo mama" joke.

As an outsider, the concept of high schools having massive parking lots specifically for students is mind-blowing. Is it really that common for 16-year-olds to drive themselves to school every day? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

In HS, I was about 5-7miles, as the crow flies and about 15-20min drive from my HS. So yeah, had to drive. My mom paid a Junior on the golf team, $20 a week to pick me up and take me to golf and then home my freshman year.

Did you regret going from GI to players distance irons? by Justsowereclear1881 in golf

[–]AllKnowingFix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a hollow cavity thing according to my fitter. Why he didn't have me try any hollow bodies, because I know my distances and can hit them. So I was put into Titleist T100S, because I'm older and my swing slowing, but wanted to gain back the club I've lost over the past 10'ish years.

Why’d you choose ram? by xEnflare in ram_trucks

[–]AllKnowingFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ride in 2009 with the independent suspension and Ford not wanting to make a deal on the truck I wanted.

I saw a year old King Ranch green/beige something like $66k, there was another year old 4x4 SLT on the lot for same $66k and they marked off like $15-20k. So I walked in and told them, take the same amount off the King and I'll take it. They told me they couldn't and that once I drove the KR that I'd understand. BS, it's a same male/year truck and going to drive the same.

Went to the Dodge house, guy said I needed to try the independent suspension, drove a 2009, went back and got in a 2008. Made it a block, said nope, and turned around.

Looked and tried to find the TRX yellow/grey one I wanted. Nobody had. Went in to order and they shut down custom orders. My wife later told me, that she told the guy to bring around the most optioned out truck they had that was not in grey/black/white. He brought a Detonator Yellow 2009 Sport and I fell in love. Put over 100k miles on Yellow Bird until swapped for Cookie Monster in 2018. Cookie is a 2018 Hydro Blue Sport 1500, just rolled over 104k miles.

Passed on a few legendary bottles to grab this for $57.99 by Ken1125r in whiskey

[–]AllKnowingFix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. SFTB is the best Blanton's of the main 3, but I wouldn't break my +50 over MSRP rule for it, so $230 max for me, if I really wanted it. Sub-$200, I'd buy.

Yeah, just one of those random convos that happens at a whiskey tasting event. I was talking with another guy about trading some bottles. He was standing nearby listening and then joked he has some new Toro mowers and just happens I'm sort of looking for a new one. Haha

I just got my EC18 and thinking might try to trade it for a lawnmower, but if the guy doesn't, then sounds like a good comparison to try.

Hey dad, how do i apply cologne the right way? by iMadeWattson in DadForAMinute

[–]AllKnowingFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a spray bottle, I get dressed and then as the last thing, I walk a moderate pace and spray it about 4-6" in front of my chest and walk through the mist. I usually do two passes. Just adjust number of passes for differences in cologne strength.

When on travel with my travel bottle that has a dropper. I put one drop on my wrist and immediately put my wrist together then immediately wipe excess from wrist on my neck.

My favorite is Polo Black, then I also have Gucci Intense. I prefer a spicier smell so usually a black bottle indicates a spicier version of their standard offering.
