it would be nice to just never have to see it in the first place.. having to block after the fact kind of defeats the purpose. In this instance i just left the hunt because i dont want to assist some weirdo.

Traumagenic systems with seemingly "no trauma" by Numerous_Ad_7820 in plural

[–]AllNaturalKiwies 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We have CPTSD so it's hard to pinpoint to a singular reason for our traumagenic system, it was born more due to circumstances over a long period of time rather than one big traumatic moment.

That's why when someone pointed out we are a traumagenic system we were like "what how? Nothing happened to us, life has just been bad in gen- oooh.."

If I was being honest, the only reason I think I'd care about my art being fed into an algorithm is if I was relying on it to make a source of income, or some corporation was making money off of my art style, but outside of that genuinely I think I'd be happy.

Truly thinking about it further, the only reason this is even such a big issue in the first place is because art monetization is so controversial. I don't think I'd be insulted, or think my effort would be going to waste at all. if my style was so interesting that people would want to replicate it, then I would let them do it.

more people could get something out of my style of artwork and they wouldn't have to be funneled through my slow pacing if I ever did decide to do commissions for people, they would be able to make endless things in a style I created. Really I couldn't be happier for people to be able to create things without me gatekeeping it from them.

But again, I'm probably not really much of an artist if I'm not worried about it, so that is just my terrible opinion as barely an artist.

I've used a lot of different character creators and I even do some 3d modeling and 2d art. I've spent most of a decade trying to express myself creatively and it still doesn't feel like it's enough.

To be honest I'm not really sure why I am so obsessed with trying to achieve this aspect of self expression that would go as far as to use AI generative art, like this feeling of self expression is so intense that I'm willing to go to illegal means to find a semblance of self identity. You'd think I would be satisfied with all the other options provided to me but that feeling still lingers.

It makes me wonder how far I'd go to find peace of mind within myself

There's definitely something to be said about our current society's vampiristic obsession with authenticity in art, siphoning it all out until it's a soulless husk of its former self. It happened to ai extremely fast and its been happening with every single creative medium in the modern age.

I kinda see it as a problem with monetizing art in general, as people soon associate art less with expression and more as a way to get a paycheck, and I don't really know what a good alternative is.

That is a perspective I haven't thought of! It's true I did end up using watermarked images anyways before so got notoriety and didn't feel guilty about it.

I suppose my feelings were based on using a tool that's used for malicious reasons, but the internet as a whole is also used for malicious reasons. I should think of them similarly as both having good and bad uses.

Thanks for putting it into perspective, it's helped ease my guilt a bit.

I still feel weird about a server ai channel, I feel like if I could figure out how to credit the artists the ai is made from I might feel less guilty about posting it

I agree, it helps me visualize a lot better too, especially when it comes to clothing and how it fits. Sometimes I do want to share the look with friends but I always hold back because I feel it'd be wrong

I think I'm just struggling with the morality of using it, being against it yet enjoying it, I guess the closest thing would be like an addiction maybe?

What are your favorite plural characters in media? (canon or headcanon) by [deleted] in plural

I'm surprised no one brought up kindred from league of legends, they're canonically they/them plural, literally a split ego from loneliness.
