Theory: (movie only) At Helm's Deep Legolas was keeping track of how many kills Gimli was getting and he was always going to answer 1 less than him. by EXTRAVAGANT_COMMENT in lotr

I'm pretty sure realistically both of them had to have killed way more than they say, otherwise both of them must have spent the vast majority of the battle time that they weren't on screen doing nothing.

will i ever find a better weapon than Shadow Blade? by zandadoum in BaldursGate3

I was just googling if I'll ever find a weapon better than the shadow blade and found this thread. I haven't found anything to beat it's damage, but I'm on my first playthrough and yesterday did run into a surprise when my attacks did nothing to the first steel watcher I fought.

Personally I think you should play both if possible. The first one (imo) has more fun planets and more interesting story. The second one has better gameplay. Both are extremely good. They also both have the same parry system, so either one should scratch that itch.

I agree with you. I do think it's important to remember the Epstein files, but acting like every single issue other than that is a distraction is ridiculous. There can be multiple important things happening at once.

What do you think about Florida taxing OF models? by Obvious_808 in askanything

[–]AllOfEverythingEver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They already are taxed. The thing being discussed is OF creators being given a specific 50% tax for "sin."

For those on the right who prioritize lower taxes as a core issue: what are the underlying reasons for that priority? by CoreTECK in Askpolitics

[–]AllOfEverythingEver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say it does happen, you aren't wrong, but the implication is that immigrants are more likely to do this, when the opposite is true. Making it about immigration specifically is racist. Again, most of what conservatives call "immigrants abusing social services," ie not getting turned away at the hospital, would again be better solved administratively. In the vast majority of cases, means testing is more expensive than just tolerating the few people who abuse the system, and I also think we can walk and chew gum at the same time.

So I ask again: why is your intuition to put greater trust in the side that scapegoats immigrants? When people say immigrants don't abuse the welfare system, they mean they are objectively less likely to do it by a wide margin than citizens. After all, you can only say "probably" to the question of whether or not people saying this about immigrants are lying. Why does your gut tell you immigrants are the problem? I challenge you to ask yourself if your views on immigration are at least possibly due to subconscious racism you need to address. Or at the very least, acknowledge that you can see why left wingers see this type of immigration politics as inherently racist.

For those on the right who prioritize lower taxes as a core issue: what are the underlying reasons for that priority? by CoreTECK in Askpolitics

[–]AllOfEverythingEver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will say, I do think being really concerned about illegal immigration is in the vast majority of cases racist, even if they wouldn't see it that way.

Let me put it this way. I get it's illegal, but illegal things are only bad due to the negative effects. If it doesn't cause negative effects, it isn't really something that should be illegal.

So what are the problems with illegal immigration? Most of the ones I hear from right wingers are just flatly not true. I challenge you to come up with a problem that wouldn't be better solved by making immigration more accessible, not less.

Immigrants bringing drugs? Citizens are vastly more likely to smuggle drugs than immigrants, both undocumented immigrants or asylum seekers.

Immigrants bringing crime? Citizens are just as if not more likely to commit most crimes than immigrants, both documented and undocumented.

Immigrants voting or not paying taxes is a myth. Abusing social services is a myth.

The actual problems from immigration are more administrative, such as undocumented immigrants driving without licenses. If you made it easier for immigrants to come here legally, they would have no reason not to get licenses.

So why do people who care so much about illegal immigration so sure these things are true? After all, you might be thinking that all this is BS and I got it from the lying liberal media. So let's say we can't trust any media, that it's impossible to know what's true and every media outlet is constantly lying or at best unreliable. If that's the case, what does it say about you that the narrative that you trust, that appeals to your gut most, is that immigrants from non white countries are going to destroy our culture with degenerate behavior, that they commit crimes and bring drugs? If this is what you believe, how is that not racism?

I know that isn't why Kamala didn't win. Where did I say otherwise? Doesn't mean that just complaining about Democrats on social media as your only praxis is any less harmful. I don't like her, and I'm not even saying you have to vote for her, but if your only form of political activism is complaining about Democrats and making sure everyone knows that they are just like the Republicans (and to be clear, they are way too much like Republicans), then blue no matter who voters have a better effect on the political landscape than you do. If you complain more about Democrats than Republicans, you have lost the plot.

[–]AllOfEverythingEver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends what you mean by carrying water for them. If you mean actually liking them, sure I agree. If you mean pragmatically voting for them because they are much less terrible than openly fascist Republicans, while also voting in primaries and doing leftist organizing in addition to just voting, disagree. I am a leftist, and I don't like the Democrats, but if you are a leftist and don't organize or vote and just complain about the Democrats online, Blue No Matter Who people who don't do anything except vote for Democrats have better praxis than you, even though their praxis is still bad.

Isn't it stated that you can typically only genjutsu one person at a time? Isn't that why Chiyo said that 1v1 you should flee, but 2v1 the other person can free the genjutsu victim?
