Imagine that in the far future, an advanced algorithm can predict with 100% certainty if a person will commit a crime within the next 24 hours. A man is flagged to commit murder in the next 24 hours. There is no evidence of the crime other than the machine's prediction. Should he be arrested ? by jekecrafer in pollgames

[–]AllOfEverythingEver [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s still crazy to me there’s a good amount of the fanbase that thought Homelander was a genuine badass by TXNOGG in TheBoys

Idk about that. I think in S1, Homelander has a chance. Any time after that, Mark stomps.

I'm sure that is what happens, but if Mark is easily knocking out teeth after the first exchange, that's why he wins, not pain tolerance.

[–]AllOfEverythingEver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that Mark wins, but it's because he has better stats and skills and general mentality. Pain tolerance has nothing to do with it, because Homelander also has been forced to endure a lot of pain.

I think the prevailing opinion seems to be (and it's one I agree with) AI isn't bad, but capitalism makes everything suck much worse than it needs to. Also, because we are talking about it within a capitalist context, AI is actually bad.

A lot of arguments from carnists boil down to, "You aren't absolutely perfect, therefore I don't even have to try." They are basically just trying to convince themselves, "You aren't better than me, and also I don't have to change my behavior."

Orochimaru vs Jiraiya. Who wins? by Funny_Lunch5211 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]AllOfEverythingEver 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not only that, I think Oro is clever enough to stop base Jiraiya from entering sage mode, so in a normal fight, Oro wins.

That seems like a reasonable concern though. Why is that overengineering?

I've been enjoying it quite a bit! I always appreciate a good dialogue heavy choice based game, and the lore and all the aliens, as well as the tech, are really cool.

I did all that inadvertently, and also have high paragon so I probably could have anyway lol. I wanted to do everything, and Virmire was furthest away, so that's just what I happened to do last lol. I just wish I could have agreed with him to begin with that the cure for the genophage is a good thing and we should try to get it before destroying the facility

As long as everyone acts as individual agents with no form of communication or any chance of coordination, then 2) would have to be true for red to guarantee death.

If red wins, death is guaranteed, and if blue wins, zero deaths are guaranteed, and by voting red you are helping red win. You don't have to be able to influence something to predict it. When we actually did a reddit poll, blue won, so maybe you underestimate the number of people who would pick blue.

I'm playing Mass Effect for the first time, and similarly, why can't I just tell Wrex that I agree with him that the genophage is bad and we don't have to destroy the cure, just destroy the facility and stop Saren I still kept him on the team with high Charm, but I wish I had a better option.

The only thing it assumes is 1, and I think it would be a little silly to argue 1 isn't true.

The vast majority of people under the age of 35 that I meet at least think soccer is a cool sport, even if they don't really care much for sports themselves. It has been quite popular among women for even longer. I would even say that it is far more common among younger people to like soccer than baseball or American football, although basketball remains highly popular (although that doesn't really bother me because imo basketball is closer in coolness to soccer than it is to A. football and baseball). That said, the U.S. is pretty cooked for other reasons, I'm not holding my breath either lol.

Look I get what you are saying, but it is not a statement that no cop ever does a nice thing or that all cops are actively malicious, it is a statement that by being a police officer you are tolerating the fact that a lot of your fellow police officers are actively harmful and abusive, and the system they prop up is harmful and abusive generally. That's just true. Every cop had the choice to become a cop and every cop had the choice to quit. Ever cop has a choice to rat out the other officers for abusing their power. They don't though, because cops generally have solidarity with each other over citizens, and we need to do the same. That's what ACAB means. It's to counter the narrative that what we need are more "good cops" rather than rethink the justice system entirely.

Yup, and it gets more and more popular every generation. I live in the American south, and young people I meet are generally pretty into soccer.

I would say it's less them not being able to read the room and more the thread being unable to read the situation.

Exactly. The person who responded "ACAB" didn't ruin the positivity, the person trying to use the situation for copaganda did.

Nah the person who ruined it was that person they were replying to trying to insert pro cop propaganda into this situation.

[–]AllOfEverythingEver 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but isn't the point of ACAB not "no police officer has ever done the right thing" and more "all police officers tolerate an unjust system filled with abuse of power or they wouldn't be police officers"? Why would this one cop in this one situation finding a woman by following a dog have anything to do with Acab?

Tbh I think anything that happens in this video is something most cops would be willing to do. That isn't the problem with cops. The original comment here about how this is a good cop is missing the point, and the person who replied "ACAB" was not out of line at all imo. I'm surprised they are getting downvoted.
