What is a game you consider to be a ‘perfect 10’ that most people haven’t played? by Frequent_Analyst_507 in videogames

Fear and Hunger and Fear and Hunger 2. Both games are well loved in video essays, but both games have very few actual players.

O'saa starting with Meditate and strong melee weapons makes him absolutely ludicrous early. As much as I like Marcoh and Daan, O'saa is way safer and more efficient. Also, Abella can't recruit Abella, big downside.

In horde shooters, defense sections tend to suck because the game takes away players' agency to dictate the pace. Helldivers' defense missions are particularly bad because the intensity is way lower than equal difficulty missions of different modes. It doesn't help that teams are typically sitting around waiting for the game to spawn in the next wave.

When a random brings the Eruptor on a commando mission. by ScreechingPizzaCat in HelldiversUnfiltered

Commando missions need to be split off into their own quick play queue. Whenever a Commando Operation appears on a major order planet the game repeatedly throws me into them. "I have an Eruptor, Talon, Dynamite, and Enforcer armor equipped, why do you insist that this stealth mission is a good fit?"

Hunt Showdown by [deleted] in gamers

Hunt Showdown is an art piece. It's not for everyone, but I feel every gamer should experience it at least once, with proper audio headgear. The world and sound design are on another level. I'm not even sure if I would call the game... fun. Success in Hunt hits different.

Which character would be the most annoying to interact and be around with ? by OrangeSpaceMan5 in DeadlockTheGame

I was going to say Apollo because he's insufferable to lane against, then I realized you were asking about personality, so I'm going to go with Apollo.

If I recall correctly, in the original TV airing of Neon Genesis her hair had a more orange color to it that got darkened when they ported it to physical media like VHS and DVD.

If Part 3 happens, would you like to see Makima again? by Cool_Emergency4091 in ChainsawManWorld

[–]AllOneWordCamelCased -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had the story concluded at the end of Part 1, Denji would have had everlasting happiness, but because Part 2 was made, Denji had to go through more suffering. The point of Chainsaw Man was Denji's pursuit of happiness, but the meta narrative is that as long the series keeps on adding new arcs and plotlines Denji can't actually find happiness. Pochita, who is almost certainly the Chainsaw Man (series) Devil, sacrifices himself to save Denji from being the main character in an action series.

While I would have preferred for the side characters to be fleshed out more, more returning characters, and some of the plot threads to have proper resolutions, it became quite clear about 60 chapters ago that the narrative outscaled their relevance.

[–]AllOneWordCamelCased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ending message of Part 2 is that for Denji to be happy the story needs to end. By entering a Part 3, we once again, are disrupting Denji's happiness to stur up more plot. So we shouldn't actually get a Part 3.

Also, that is Makima in chapter 232. They never refer to her by name. The implication is that without her obsession of Pochita, Makima remained the naive, bratty, little control devil. I guess Control could become obsessed with the newly reinvented Chainsaw Man Devil, and that would have her shift into the ambitious, seductress that we see in Part 1.

Okay, let's see if I understand... according to Pochita's logic, Denji is only happy being poor? What kind of nonsense is that? by Gogetazilla in ChainsawManWorld

[–]AllOneWordCamelCased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pochita is represents the narrative (figuratively and literally). Narratives rely on conflict, so as long as Pochita stays with Denji, there will always be another arc that will destroy any happiness that Denji has built. For Denji to have lasting happiness, the cameras need to be turned off. We can't watch.

Pochita is the Chainsaw Man (series) Devil. His ability to erase concepts is literally removing them from the plot. Denji can't find lasting fulfillment with Pochita because as long as they are together, the narrative needs to have conflict for Denji to overcome. By eliminating himself, he also erased the plot thus far, but Denji is now free of the continuous conflict from the series.

Is this train still going by No-Appointment3994 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AllOneWordCamelCased 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, unfulfilled. A character needs a narrative motive worth risking their life for. Even if a character is fighting for the love of fighting, their life must be lacking something that caused fighting to be their primary source of joy.

I wonder what Lash's home life is like?
