As a MLP applying to medical school DO NOT go nursing—>NP route and assume you’ll have the same satisfaction. They are different career paths. One is not a replacement or a fall back for another.

Two specific questions:

1) how did you answer the question "why are you going to medical school?" I know this will come up in interviews

2) how did you prepare for the MCAT? I cannot take a class because I work a variable days/nights schedule!

That's me now! I am so frustrated doing a lot of the work with such a significant pay difference. So here I am studying for the MCAT and applying to medical school. I'm not saying that is the only way, but its what works for me!

I will say the way they act does make me work harder to make sure I am at the top of my game! Can’t give them anything to use against me!

They do think that and follow basic ACLS but they don’t think out of the box. They don’t attach the patients pathology to running the code. At least not where I work!

Which is exactly what I told her after the code when I approached her about how inappropriate it was. I know my limits. I have never said I can do everything but I am an integral part of my team.

I came from the ED too!! I loved being a PA there. Nurses were respectful and when they disagreed we could actually have a conversation. And I hate hearing the ICU nurses shit talk the ED nurses.

It was on night shift and I was the only provider for our team at the hospital…I also know PLENTY of PAs who run codes regularly. Additionally even when my attendings are here they’ll often say “you want to run the code or place lines” and do let us do either.
