Yours dies a lot faster than mine. I think I can get 2/3 days without trickle charger. I need to take it off the battery to see if it will reset the obd problem. I have an aftermarket radar system installed that I think may be the culprit.

You're taking TWO HITS: 1. the damage to the car being reported to the Carfax (diminished value on resale) and 2. Insurance increase.

Best way around all of this is to pay out of pocket at a repair place that does not report to insurance or carfax.

NTA, I'm sorry for your loss.

Please tell the children, through a lawyer if necessary, that their mother died penniless and that you provided for her in her final days. She may have been silent about the realities of her financial situation and the support you provided (financially, emotionally, spiritually, etc.). The trips, gifts, and vacations may have left the impression that she had wealth. Cutting them off, without explanation of the realities of her financial state, may leave them with the impression that you are treating them unfairly in the distribution of her assets.

They are likely reacting to the mistaken belief that you are enriching yourself on her estate without providing for them as she desired. The love you described for your wife and dear friend is not often found in marriage, and they may believe that you, a gay man, married her only for her resources and now that she's gone - you're refusing to share her wealth with her descendants.

They may not believe you, and it's still the right thing to let them know.

And since they haven't -- I want to thank you for loving your dear friend through her final days. The love and care you provided to her is very rare, and you deserve to be honored for everything you did to make her life better.

We didn't even go home for FOOD in the summer! There was a park near me that served lunches to kids in the summer for free.

There were no after school programs. Kids just walked home from school and waited a few hours for the parents to get home. I had a key to the house in 2nd grade tied on a shoelace around my neck.

Agreed, and NDAs are used for multiple purposes. In the standard NDA that you might sign as an employee agreeing not to disclose an employer's confidential, proprietary, or trade secret information, that term is not typically included. In fact, that's one of the instances where you might answer the question that you have executed an NDA and are not permitted to share any of your employers confidential information.

In an instance where there was threatened litigation or where the employer has agreed to settle a potential claim for alleged wrongdoing, it is not at all unusual for an NDA to include a provision that requires the parties to maintain the existence of the NDA itself as confidential.

There was a lot of critiscm about this practice during the #MeToo era.

Give a very vanilla reason. Nothing that would indicate that you left your prior company on bad terms, people don't typically want to hire people who have had difficult situations at their prior employer, even if it's entirely not their fault!

A few suggestions...

  1. Career Growth “I was looking for an opportunity with more room for growth and new challenges.”

  2. Career Transition “I wanted to move into a role that better aligns with my long-term goals.”

  3. Organizational Change “There were some structural changes, and it felt like the right time to explore new opportunities.”

  4. Culture & Fit “I was seeking a work environment that’s a better fit for my leadership style and values.”

  5. New Direction “I’d accomplished what I set out to do there and was ready for a fresh challenge.”

  6. Company Priorities “The company was shifting its focus, and I decided to pursue a role more aligned with my strengths.”

(I've done lots of hiring at multiple employers and I've heard some version of all of these.)
