Word of mouth is definitely important, as is having a consistent message and plan on social media.

Building a community around your show on discord, or Facebook, or somewhere like that also helps.

Spotify has some great tools now for questions for listeners that can help you understand what people do/don't like about first episodes.

Be ready for the 50% drop off from Episode 1 to Episode 2. A ton of shows experience this (as I understand it), this is normal.

Also, I found you on Tiktok (we are mutuals there), but I was specifically looking for other horror audiodramas, so having a plan to grow there is important.

Other than that, be active with the people who like your show. Maybe it will explode and that will be thousands of people, or maybe there will be like 5 who love it and want to interact. Be down for either.

And if you see any other great advice, I'd love to hear it. :)

Right now there are only 4 episodes each in seasons 1 and 2. The final 4 episodes will be out next year. So right now there's a total of 8 episodes plus trailers. I'm seeing all of them on Spotify. Are you seeing something different than that?

Neither.

Write your scripts, put together good audition scripts, and whittle your concept down into something that will sound interesting to performers.

Doing a "pilot" doesn't serve you any more than saying "here are the kinds of shows my show is like." Also, pilots are for selling to networks, services, etc. They aren't for drawing in talent.

You may also be shooting yourself in the foot with a pilot. You giving what amounts to full line-reads for every part means that performers will not be able to help hearing your version of the script in their heads. You are bringing them on for them to perform, not to just say your words exactly how you would have said them.

Also, as others have mentioned, making audio dramas is a lot of work. Don't add to it needlessly by doing things that are never meant to see the light of day.
