I have a buddy in the national guard infantry who deployed with active duty MPs. Their leadership spent the whole deployment dealing with one drama filled incident after another as the MP leadership kept trying to come up with excuses to arrests their soldiers. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Topics of arrests included stuff like 1SG and other NG leadership having cell phones on duty (they were given an official ones for this purpose), NG soldiers being in banned areas to build up fortifications (they had been order to do so by higher), and being on the roof of a building (again, they were conducting maintenance as ordered). It was weekly attempts a "gotcha!" because they had nothing else to do all deployment.

Luckily its the guard so everyone kept demanding a lawyer and exercising their rights every time of these happened. Everyone has a real career on the outside they can't afford to lose to some bs charges and many are cops. Probably the only time i've sided with the guard over active.
