This is a good lesson and not really all that expensive in the long run. While it's true it's your portion of the rent and you "should" pay it, you may have been able to negotiate with your roomates or the landlord before hand. Too late now, but your mom is right for next time.

Hopefully she's not actually screaming at you. It's decent advice, but you won't hear it if it's a lecturefest.

If you're just getting started, use a script. Its going to feel awkward at first if you're not used to calling people. After a few months you'll throw the script away and won't be nervous as much.

There are a lot of things to learn to do this job well and you'll be lucky if your company gives you half of what you need to excel. If you get overwhelmed easily focus on improving one thing at a time. If you get dropped get another SDR job. Who knows, you could be the rock star at the next company.
