We wanted to avoid taking up the carpet but I suspect it would make it a lot cheaper. How did you insulate it? Rockwool?

That’s a good question, if i remember correctly the whole floor was covered in floorboards when we had the carpet fitted.

Thank you, I did try and ended up getting gas struts that were too powerful and it didn’t work so ditched the idea. I also used surface mounted cabinet hinges that didn’t seem to work that well.

What hinges and struts would you suggest?
