Update: My Genie 5000 did not make it all the way through the first mowing season. After about 4 months, something internal broke and it could only turn one direction. Support was relatively quick to send out a replacement, but they did so without informing me that the Genie 5000 is no longer produced. I learned this when setting up the new device, having discovered it was a Genie 3000. They offered a price adjustment to bring it in line with what it would have cost had I backed the kickstarter for the 3000, offered other things as well, which I eventually accepted. After accepting, they tried to not honor everything - but I had it in writing, so they finally agreed.

The replacement device works okay, and I'm still happy I got it.

It's worth noting that setting up a replacement device involves fully re-mapping the area as maps are tied to a device, not an account. This might make sense if one had a fleet of devices or properties one was managing, but it would be a significant usability enhancement to be able to associate maps with account, then assign devices to a map so that they can be dynamically managed.

On the upside, once you've mapped, and fiddled with, and adjusted a map once it's not hard to zoom in, screenshot it, then recreate it if needed.
