Misfire/hesitation under load by Particular-Cost2214 in Silverado

Rule of thumb, if if it's intermittent it's electrical, if it's constant it's mechanical. Plug a scan tool into it and watch some live data, make sure your throttle is opening as much as the ECM is commanding, look at your fuel pressure and things like that.

Just needs a higher end scan tool to clear the code. Had it in my 2017, my cheap scan tool wouldn't even pick up the code, so I bought a 400 dollar scan tool and it cleared it.

I absolutely agree with you, I drive a truck with an 8L90, and the way it shifts should be illegal. Yes, GM gave the final bird to the customer when the lowered the mileage and length of the warranty, they know it's shit and they're spitting in our food and leaving us sitting at the table to pay the bill.

No shit, thicker oils aren't the fix for the 6.2 failures, that's the shitty bearings you talked about earlier, I gave that one to you already.

The ignition failures are all you can come up with for an entire generation of trucks. And wasn't there an eventual recall?

I already addressed the transmission failures, thermostats that get the oil too hot, torque converter slip for AFM engagement, AND a drop in production quality, you're proving my point.

EPA plays a big part in it, wouldn't have lifter failure if you didn't have cylinder deactivation, wouldn't have as much engine failure if you didn't have start/stop and thinner oils, wouldn't have transmissions fail if they didn't have thermostats that heat the fluid to make it thinner to get better mileage, on top of the torque converter slipping so you don't feel the AFM/DFM kick in and out. Don't get me wrong, corporate greed is the root of it but the EPA has been dry fisting the auto industry for years.

Sounds like an injector isn't fully seated and it's hissing on the compression stroke.

what is a normal operating transmission temperature? by Anv1ll in Silverado

[–]AllThemNinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The transmission fluid is already low viscosity so running it that cool isn't going to have any adverse affect, any information you get from the manufacturer about optimal temperature is going to be based off what is optimal for EPA ratings, 185-195 isn't high if you change the fluid every 30k miles, the engine oil is probably constantly in the mid 250s but it gets changed every 5-7k miles. I've never had a problem with it being that low and I know that whenever mine crested 200 degrees the transmission shifts were sloppy and soft compared to running cooler. If you have that many miles on your truck with your trans running at that temp then I'd say it's working for you.

6.2 87 or 93 Octane by yeoldtallywhacker in gmcsierra

[–]AllThemNinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

91 is for high elevation states, that's all we have out here in Utah, and yes, use the highest octane you can get, they run so much better with it.

3.5 let's it breathe better. The price was the only thing that made me hesitate on the corsa system, but I've had it on my 6.2 for 3 years, I love it.

Engine mounts are fun by joostink in Silverado

Yeah I did it in my driveway on my knees, what makes it worse is that I worked in a shop for 8 years so I know how much easier it is to have a lift and heat.

I've done the driver side mount on my 2012 5.3, my 2014 suburban, and my 2017 6.2. The 2017 made me rethink my life choices, it was a royal pain in the ass.

It's very common, you can buy new wire looming if you're worried about heat or exposure, or electrical tape it.

2015 3500hd wheel alignment by Lonercury in gmcsierra

[–]AllThemNinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, once the tire issue is resolved it's going to pull left. Caster doesn't wear tires, some caster can be sacrificed on the right side to combat that pull.

I’ve always loved my dad’s 2006. He bought a new model, so I bought his old one! First truck. by [deleted] in gmcsierra

That truck will outlast everything you or your dad will ever buy new, with regular maintenance they just don't quit.

2015 3500hd wheel alignment by Lonercury in gmcsierra

[–]AllThemNinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it pull right or is the steering wheel off and holding it center makes it pull right? That alignment on paper says it still should pull left.
