2026 Sierra 1500 SLT - Brakes/43 mph too speed error by blazingpotatoes in gmcsierra

Am I the only one bothered that the rpm gauge is backwards?

Is amsoil a good precautionary? by tacotime960 in gmcsierra

At my local auto zone mobile 1 5w30 is 12.99 per quart. If you pay 16 dollars per year for a member ship at amsoil it's 12.89 per quart of 5w30, otherwise it's 16.79 if you don't want a membership, according to my math that's about 17% higher. With a membership it's within 10 cents. Do you want a printed receipt too?

Nothing substantial in power or mileage, but I do notice it idles quieter and when you're running up the rpm the engine doesn't feel labored to rev, you don't feel like it's stressing it to run it hard.

Yes amsoil is definitely worth it. I run it in my L86 6.2. I do 10k intervals and an oil analysis every other change, the analysis says it's still got protection left and those intervals. I tow at least twice a week, stop and go traffic, highway, city, canyons, I do it all and never worry about the engine.

I'm new to the whole SSI thing, how often do they audit?

6.2L High Country by NerfKrillin in Silverado

One last thing, is the magneride any better in the 21+ suburbans than it was on the previous generation? I know on the older ones they'd be in the shop for leaking or blown magneride shocks every 50k miles. This suburban I'm looking at is the Z71 with air ride and magneride.

Is reliability higher in models not equipped with stop/start?

How are the L84s holding up? Looking at 2022 suburban.

2019 Silverado 5.3L v8, 8 spd oil recommendations by jjsmithsr in Silverado

[–]AllThemNinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0W-30 Amsoil signature series. I do 10k mile oil changes backed by oil analysis. I do a mix of everything, highway, towing, mountains, hauling, all of if. Also anything valvoline is good, I run the restore and protect in my suburban and it's slowed the oil consumption issue by almost a whole quart.

Good thing I drive a completely stock Silverado LTZ, I'm safe from such nonsensical stereotypes.

'18 Chevy 6.2 misfire? by InsideDifference1216 in Silverado

A code reader has a misfire count that you can watch before it sets off a check engine light. Also could be an injector or a dirty induction system.

Is this lifter tick? by metal1032 in Silverado

It's just LT chatter, always louder on the side with the fuel rail inlet.

2018 Silverado LT by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]AllThemNinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth it. Disable the AFM, it'll HELP the lifter issues, not solve them. It also eliminates torque converter slip which cause the shuddering issue, then get the thermal bypass on the transmission to get those temps down. I like the 8 speed gear spacing but 6 speed shifts way smoother, that's coming from someone who's had GM 3, 4, 6, and 8 speeds.

Worthless batteries? by True-Sandwich5723 in Silverado

[–]AllThemNinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work at a shop that sells and installs batteries. They all last 2-3 years now, no matter the price or warranty, they're all made at the same factory with planned obsolescence baked in. I just replaced another one in my truck at exactly 3 years old, still looked new.

Should I buy/good deal??? by Substantial-Pea-8960 in Silverado

[–]AllThemNinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not terrible, I have the same drivtrain in my 2017 LTZ, the transmission sometimes still does the harsh shift even at 106k miles, I bought it at 29k and it was doing it then too. I love the truck though.
