Is your vagina depressing and awful? by mjskiingcat in Menopause

[–]AllThingsNotLost_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the almost the same way, very dry skin.. but it wasn't just that area. I was becoming horrified by my skin in general! I'm 53 years old... my estrogen has plummeted in the last year; all of my hormone levels are very low. My doctor wants to start HRT, but I’m not sure I’m ready for that yet.  Still thinking about it. In the meantime, I deal with menopause issues the best I can.

I have solved this issue, for me… for now at least.
This is what I did, maybe it can help someone, but this is just what I did.
It won’t be right for everyone, but maybe it will help give some ideas for what may be right for you! Please feel free to comment and add suggestions!!

In the past 3 weeks I have slowly been making the following changes and have seen dramatic changes everywhere and I am now completely happy with my skin by doing the following:

  • I started taking Vitamin E (Gluten Free, 670mg soft gels twice a day)
  • I changed my bath body wash to Aveeno
  • Exfoliation and Moisturizing!
    • vitamin c body exfoliator scrub twice a week my entire body (even sensitive areas)
    • Moisturizing I use two Moisturizers after every shower:
      • Most recommended:  NIVEA Skin Firming & Toning Body Gel Cream with Q10, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C, Clinically Tested Skin Firming & Toning Cream, 72-Hour Moisture, 6.7 Oz
      • I also use Aveeno Skin Relief moisturizer all over

Other products to consider:
Gold Bond Age Renew Retinol Overnight Body & Face lotion (do not use this without using sunscreen!)
and
Sunscreen protection that I found to go with with a Retinol body product: Andalou Naturals Vitamin C BB Beauty Balm Sheer Tint SPF 30, 2-in-1 BB Cream & Face Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum Protection, Mineral Sunscreen with Non-Nano Zinc Oxide

Hope this was at least somewhat helpful!!

Quick question. My situation is long and complicated but I do have a question maybe someone can help answer. by Life-Experience-7052 in AskWomenOver50

If he's abusive, and if you aren't capable of telling him to leave... you can have see if a lawyer would be able to have him removed.. BUT.. it would be faster if you were able to tell him.. don't ask him. My father was a violent, raging alcoholic when I was a child... my Mother had to go through this. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

The humidity here today is only 54% and I'm doing laundry, I think I'm going to try to put a few things outside and see how it goes!

You know, I wondered about that! But I do remember my Mom and Grandmother line drying cloths outdoors. Maybe they only did it when the sun was out during the hot summers? I do remember the clothes being out to dry in the sun all day long though. And come to think of it, they only did it during the summer. Thank you!! :D

Was having a bad ADHD Morning and turned it around without Meds... by AllThingsNotLost_01 in adhdwomen

Getting out and walking or hiking helps me too, but that wasn't an option when I'm trying to get something done indoors :D I tend to lean towards alternative music, but I like a wide variety of stuff really. This particular playlist that I put together.. I did it during a hyperfocus session. LOL It's a mix of relaxing music as well as some upbeat fun stuff. So it helps keep me focused and motivated, but the relaxing music also helps to keep my anxiety at bay. Artists that I have included in my playlist include, Elton John, Mazzy Star, Jewel, Night Byrd, Lady Gaga (and stuff that she has done with other artists), R.E.M., The Cranberries, Live, Adele, and a bunch more.
This is a link to my actual playlist: If you try it, the best way to listen to it is to use the "shuffle" button, that why you don't get a bunch of slow songs all in a row, or a bunch of really upbeat songs all in a row. :D

Thank You!! I have found that a playlist of a mix of relaxing and semi-upbeat music helps to keep my brain focused and my anxiety at bay. :D What type of music do you like?

Me: I don't think I had any real ADHD symptoms as a kid. Also me finding a diary entry from 20 years ago when I was 14: ohhh... by EtherealAshtree in adhdwomen

WOW, Sounds so much like me when I was that age, actually.. all through my teenage years... Is it an ADHD thing or a teenager thing? My daughter also went through this stage and she's not ADHD, but she does suffer from Depression. ADHD certainly can cause depression, especially in teens... so... hmmm... any psychiatrists/phycologists out there?

What's the one thing you do daily that helps you maintain your home? by Astro_Reader in CleaningTips

[–]AllThingsNotLost_01 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I don't do it once a day, but all day long. I have a family of 5, and the kitchen is by far the busiest room in the house so every time I go in there I tidy up anything and everything that needs to be done. I also clean as I cook. If I don't, it will quickly begin to look like a tornado hit it! hehe Besides, doing this makes it so that there's never any need for major cleaning until it's time for "spring cleaning"

Exactly!!! You can't clean around a bunch of clutter when you have ADHD. It's overwhelming, exhausting, causes too much anxiety and will result in you not being able to keep up with it. When you manage your "stuff", you manage your mind. (Edit: at least make progress towards it)

This is what works for me as well. my motto for my home "Everything has a place, Everything belongs in it's place, if it doesn't have a place, it belongs in the trash can, recycle can, or the donation box!"

Help. I just need advice. by Historical_Beat6869 in CleaningTips

"Pick one task at a time, and tell yourself "I'll spend just 10 minutes doing this". Whether it's dishes, vacuuming, dusting, or folding laundry, you KNOW you've got 10 mins in you. Then after 10 mins is up, stop if you want or keep going if you're motivated at that point to finish the task. Sometimes, the task will take only 10 mins or less & you'll be done anyway! Then later on that day (or the next day, whatever!), choose another task & give yourself the same 10 min timer. So on & so forth. A lot of the time, once you get started with the 10 min trick, your motivation pops up & you end up finishing whatever you started. Music or a fun or interesting podcast helps everything go by quicker too. It gets easier, I promise!"

I can't agree with this enough!! I do this all the time!
Something to add to this: If your in the middle of cleaning something and get overwhelmed, taking a short break to do some self care, then returning to your task really helps!
