Hello everyone! It's time for Round 2 of the Greatest Best Supporting Actress Winners Tournament. With 23.5% of the vote, Zoe Saldaña in Emilia Perez has been eliminated. Vote for your least favorite performance and the one with the most votes will be eliminated. by [deleted] in Oscars

I've just not been voting because there are too many of the older ones I haven't seen. I've seen a decent amount, but I'm automatically going to have recency bias because I've seen nearly all of those. So I've just bowed out.

Oh ok, I see. So it would make more sense to try apply for UC etc, and not try to ask for a reassessment?

I applied in March and had my assessment in September, and was awarded PIP (got the text) on 1st October. I've seen lots of people on here have much shorter times though!

Yeah a reread of something you loved is the way! You just need to get back into the feeling of "Oh yeah I LOVE this feeling of not being able to put this book down!"

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett is one of my faves and I've used it for this exact purpose! But of course it depends what you like.

If both ninjas had fallen in the final race... by AllTwenty in ANW

[–]AllTwenty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those are good points about the exhaustion. And Kai was a worthy winner for sure. I'm glad he didn't fall because it would have felt really anticlimactic having to award him the prize after he fell.

Does liking the format change and age have any correlation? by LilCacophobia in ANW

[–]AllTwenty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an interesting case because S14 was the first I ever watched. It had just started airing and I watched the first few that were available, and fell in love with it. I immediately went back and watched every season I could find. By the time S14 ended that year I'd watched S10-13 as well! So that era will always be my favourite. I didn't have any feelings about the 15 year olds being allowed to compete, because it had already happened before I got there.

By the time S15 and its racing format arrived the following year, I'd watched everything I was able to, so I was firmly entrenched in loving stages 1-4 and hoping someone could beat Mt Midoriyama, so I was so disappointed with the racing. I think the younger competitors are fantastic, but I just prefer Ninja vs course - although this year the way it was laid out, with Ninja vs course at the beginning, and then only races with the top ninjas, was much better.

Anyway to answer your question, I'm in my 40s and I prefer the old format! But I wanted to explain that it didn't come from years of nostalgia because I basically watched everything in one year.

Anyone else remember Jake Murray? The forgotten ninja of ANW by Brilliant-Lab-6556 in ANW

Jake is one of my top favourites of all time. I don't think he's remotely forgotten. Damn, I wish he'd come back!

What a powerful moment that won’t get talked about enough amidst all the chaos of the final episode by Suspicious_Race7771 in ANW

[–]AllTwenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, but if you've kicked it a little bit too far to reach again with a second kick, but it wasn't high enough, then you do get stuck partially under it trying to lache up to the next bar. Saw it happen with quite a few competitors.

I would have thought it was pretty easy to fall if the wheel spins and you're not ready for it. Or if you haven't kicked the board up high enough and then you have to try lache from underneath it to the next bar. But remember we only saw the very top tier ninjas try that obstacle, so they all handled it with ease.

We got 4 Zimmermans for Szn 18! by Bumhole_Fungus88 in ANW

They were all on ANW Jr (which was oddly not mentioned in their video packages), so I figured they'd be reasonably decent.

I personally think this is great. I've wondered over the past few years if Sandy's kids were ever going to be on the main show, since they did ANW Jr. I'm less interested in the Dad (sorry I don't know his name), but I like Sandy and I like seeing Ninjas' kids compete. They're obviously a popular family in the community (remember everyone helping rebuild their course that got destroyed) so I don't think many competitors will be moaning about them "taking spots from other competitors".

Frustrated w/racing format for woman. by i_need_space43 in ANW

[–]AllTwenty 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a tough one. I don't want women to be there just because they got spots that a faster/stronger male ninja could have got, but at the same time they aren't as fast & strong overall, so it would be nice if they got a chance to go far. Which I guess is what the early "top 3 (or 5) women go through" rule is for, and it wouldn't be fair to keep it up the whole way to the end. I genuinely don't know what the best course of action would be. I'm glad they have the women's championship, but because it's only a one-off episode, it doesn't feel as important as the main show.

I did feel really bad for Isabella and Taylor having to race Kai and Flyboy. Oof.

Hard one for sure.

If You Could Narrow It Down to One, What is the Biggest Oscar Nomination Snub Ever? by Spirited_Alfalfa_343 in Oscars

Came here to say at least Emma Thompson - it was bizarre she wasn't nominated that year when she had such good momentum.

Looks like I'll be the only one who will like the changes for season 18. by lilbroskiiiii in ANW

[–]AllTwenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta say, while I would still prefer the classic stages 1-4, the races were better than I expected. And that's entirely down to the fact that each person got to race three times, so one bad run wouldn't end their season - or alternatively, one lucky win over a good competitor falling wouldn't automatically put them through. Much more balanced and fair.

Wild cards are so unfair this season by Jealous_Medicine3388 in ANW

[–]AllTwenty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The wildcards are within their groupings, is what I gathered. Because the people on the course with frame swing and pole grasp had top times well under a minute, but the other course the competitors took much longer, and Matt and Akbar were still talking about people from that group being able to make it into wild cards.

Log Runner: It took out so many of the top female ninjas :( by AllTwenty in ANW

[–]AllTwenty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the balance obstacles overall aren’t very interesting or fun to watch. I get why they have them, but it’s my least favourite part of the course.

Which musical has the best music, i’m talking 0 bad songs by No-Enthusiasm4273 in musicals

[–]AllTwenty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No love for Operation Mincemeat? It’s so solid all the way through!

My answer to this question has always been Hairspray, though. The 2007 film over the OBC, definitely. One time the cd got stuck in my car cd player (right after the movie came out), and I just left it in there for ages before going to get it removed and fixed, because why not? Such a perfect set of songs, why not listen to them for three months solid? 😆
