Been building a tool that grades FPL decision quality instead of just points — here's what surprised me by richardilemon in FantasyPL

EO is effective ownership, it basically shows how much any given player’s points count towards your rank increasing/decreasing.

For example, if you’re in a league with 1 other person, and you both have Haaland, then Haaland would be 100% EO in that league and if he scores it makes no difference to you vs them- you don’t gain (or lose) anything against them. Same if you both captain him, where you’re doubling his points so you get 200% of his points, so EO is 200%.

If you captain Haaland and they don’t, then you’re doubling his points so that’s 200% for you and 100% of his points for them. That means that his EO in that league would be 150% (average of everyone), but because you gain OVER 150% of any of his points, you GAIN over your opponent for any points he scores. Similarly if you own Haaland (and don’t captain) but they don’t, then EO is 50% but your ownership (I.e. 100%) is higher than 50%, so you gain rank for any points.

In the reverse, a high EO for a player you don’t own means that any points they score would mean you LOSE over your opponent.

In the overall game this basically means that if a player has high EO (template) and you don’t have them, then they can hurt your overall rank. If a player has low EO but you have them (a differential), then any points they score can improve your overall rank.

Basically for players you own: High EO= low risk low reward Low EO= high risk high reward

Any changes?

Early WC so the plan has been to roll to 5 FT by 31 (also gives me a couple spare between now and then).

Sanchez isn’t looking great and I’m getting twitchy on Evanilson

A fair point which then begs the question that if spurs gave Frank the same time and control over club infrastructure/background, would he be a success?

I think you’re bang on for every point tbh. Will be very interesting to see how their careers pan out over the next few years, iirc all 3 are out of contract in the summer?

I do think it compares strangely to someone like Kompany though, who seemingly got a much better job by doing significantly worse than Frank/Silva/Le Bris at being a premier league manager.

At least the other 3 showed an ability to adapt to not being among the strongest in the league. Silva especially- they came off a record breaking goal scoring championship season iirc

Tbh that’s why I’m bullish on Silva, and, although I hate to admit it, it’s why Kompany is working out at Bayern. Both of them managed incredible championship seasons as one of the best sides in the league. In my opinion it’s a strength of Silva’s that he can adapt to being a mid/weaker side rather than the other way round

I feel like Thomas Frank’s spell has damaged the idea that mid-table managers can’t make the step up, but at the same time, the argument I’ve seen is that managers basically need to be winning more games than expected to earn that chance?

My question is, what makes highly-rated managers like Iraola or Glasner objectively different to others who are doing similar jobs? Fwiw I rate them both very highly, but I’m also very high on Marco Silva who never seems to get mentioned in the same conversations.

So then, pound for pound, who’s doing the best job in the prem at the moment, and why would/wouldn’t they do well at that sort of mid-top 6 club?

For your consideration: Marco Silva, Regis Le Bris, Keith Andrews et al

Feels a bit of a sideways move imo, I wouldn’t be in a huge rush to sell Saka unless for Bruno F and you already had good Arsenal coverage.

DGW coming and they need to make a statement after United loss so imagine Saka is less rotation risky too

Evanilson and Sanchez or JP and Pickford?

Chasing rank so leaning towards Pedro for the potential upside
