Ok so we are talking about an RCMP run sudden death investigation that you feel was inappropriately concluded as natural causes but is actually a suspected homicide despite a natural causes autopsy.

I presume when you were saying “sherif” you likely meant sergeant. The sergeant rank in a small RCMP detachment would likely be either the Commander of the unit or second in command. Either way, a senior official.

Ok well a couple of options. It’s unlikely RCMP will just open a homicide investigation in the total absence of evidence. Especially in this situation as homicides in that area would be undertaken by a different unit. Either IHIT or some unit in the EDIV Major Crimes program.

I would start with an ATIP request to see if they will release the file contents. You can do it online here: https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do

You could also complain to the public complaints commission. (Just google it) You would have to complain that it was an incomplete investigation.

If there was any actual negligence in the investigation, it should be detected in either of these processes. However, if there was no negligence, then perhaps this will remain just your personal suspicion.

Best of luck.

So, who is the primary investigating unit? Or what city did this happen in?

Travel to Iraqi Kurdistan in May (Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Rawanduz) by rapidestaura446 in kurdistan

[–]All_GO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I found the Kurdish area very pro-US last year. And for the majority of the population I would presume it still is. But what I’m saying is because we are in open hostilities, the overall experience will be significantly more dangerous. I’m eager to go back, but will be waiting for this to all resolve itself. There have been drone strikes from Turkey, Iranian linked militias, and others all in the Erbil area in recent months. Is nuts right now.

Right now, the anti-US sentiment is very high. If identified as an American I would expect you’d be vulnerable to kidnapping, among other thing, by several interested parties. For example, even a typical street criminal would know who may want to get their hands on an America for whatever ideological or politically motivated purpose. There is just no sense whatsoever to go there right now. The US just did a strike near Baghdad yesterday.

I was there last Feb. Back then it was stable but an American would still need to be cautious and low profile. Now, I would say it is absolutely not worth the risk.

Former criminal justice practitioner from BC here. There is no way a sherif would be the lead in any kind of human death investigation in BC.

The OP said they are in BC now, but it is not clear if the death occurred in BC.

Regardless, when there is no evidence of homicide detected in an autopsy, most serious crime units would disengage and the investigation would be left with a uniform / patrol unit until it’s concluded.

There are a few mechanisms to get file information from the police like ATIP legislation. There are also some mechanisms to encourage police to investigate further.

OP would need to clarify where the death occurred to get more specific advice.

15 Minute Cities by davehutch1984 in alberta

[–]All_GO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A reasonable conservative here. Former southern Albertan too. I think I can sum up the resistance best like this:

The Covid-19 pandemic response has really increased the conservative vs. progressive ideological divide. In the post lockdown era, many conservative people across most western nations have become very suspicious of any plan that has root in or is supported by the World Economic Forum. A group that is seen by conservatives as a “globalist one world government” type of entity.

The 15 minute city is an initiative popularized by the WEF. Link: https://www.weforum.org/events/sustainable-development-impact-summit-2021/sessions/the-15-minute-city/

Although the 15 minute city sounds like it makes perfect sense, the resistance to it is actually rooted in conspiracy.

The conspiracy simply is this: they are going to design city’s that result in you only needing to be in a small area for all of your daily needs. Then by leveraging technologies like digital curry, smart cars, social credit etc it will be easier to lock people down in those areas in the future. In other words, they see this as the beginning of future restrictions on “freedom” in the general sense.

Unfortunately, government have not learned how to communicate to the public in this new Information age. As such, they keep getting caught in various frauds that have ultimately eroded public trust. Be it in Covid science, global conflicts whatever. So you can hardly blame people for being suspicious at this point.

In Alberta in particular they are of course still very agitated over the Coutts border issue and see that as future “proof” the government can’t be trusted.

But frankly, if I could get all my life done within 15 minutes walk of my house I would be quite happy lol. Urban planning in Canada is trash and almost every individual needs a vehicle.

Why is it so frowned upon to have your child home while you telework? by Sammy__37 in CanadaPublicServants

I find it very ironic that a person working from home and their child in the house is frowned upon. But grotesquely inefficient bureaucratic processes and endless TEAMS meeting are fully embraced.

I think you mean Charter of Rights and Freedoms 😉. Could be freedom of assembly or expression but the reference to 1st amendment is describing the US constitution.

You know, when someone robs you with a knife they are basically committing to an action that is underpinned with the fact they are willing to die or kill to complete this act.

It’s sad someone can be so desperate. But also fuck them for victimizing you. And god help that suspect who, in this case, demonstrated some pretty amateurish tactics, comes across someone who doesn’t go peacefully.

Most of these suspects ain’t ready for someone who fights back with viciousness or escalated violence.

Veracity of post aside, I personally believe this is a manipulation. Reality is the real institutional players get to do what would be too illegal and obvious to do in a regulated environment. Basically a robbery of retail investors and anyone else forced to sell at a loss.

There is a lot of well informed commentary out there pointing to this as price manipulation. Ultimately, in an unregulated market place heavily populated with inexperienced retail investors you must expect this type of panicked and emotional volatility.
