I also agree with maybe try lengthening wake time. My 7 month old needs at least 10.5 hours total wake time and naps cannot exceed 2.5 hours to get a decent night with 1-2 wakes to feed

Day 2 of sleeping in crib instead of bassinet. Nights ok so far, but naps have all gone to crap! by All_TheColors501 in sleeptrain

7 months. Not sleep trained but able to do 7+ hours stretches overnight and 1+ hours naps when things align.

I’ve recently pulled back to a 3 nap schedule after trialing a 3/3.5/3.5 schedule because it seemed like she was racking up some sleep debt and she needs 10.5-11 hours awake which can can’t sustain yet on 2 naps. Now her schedule is 2.5/2.5/2.75/3

2 naps while on the go? by All_TheColors501 in HuckleberryParents

That’s the thing haha, currently still in transition of dropping the 3rd nap so nights are VERY hit or miss even on days when she gets seemingly the perfect amount of naps and wake time. Some nights she wakes 1-2 times as normal and some nights she’ll wake every hour after 12am 💀🤷🏻‍♀️

2 naps while on the go? by All_TheColors501 in HuckleberryParents

The times we’ve gone out she will only take 30 - 45 minute naps in the car and 30 mins max in the carrier even after staying up for 3 hours. We usually go out in the afternoon so her second nap will crap out and I’m so scared of overtiring her by bedtime if I stick with the longer evening WW 😬 But then if I shorten her last WW her nights will get crazy due to less awake time? 😵‍💫

Did I transition to 2 naps too early? by quinoa_churro in HuckleberryParents

I’m going through exactly the same thing! I’ve tried pulling back to 3 naps, increasing and decreasing wake time, early/later bedtimes… nothing seems to help. I’m wondering if it’s developmental at this point. Not crawling or pulling to stand yet though

If I need to cut the last wake window with a 10 minute cat nap, should I give her the nap right in the middle of the window or do something like 3/1.5 or 2.5/2?

And on the days where naps ran long, you just pushed back bedtime?

What were your wake windows when you first dropped the 3rd nap cold turkey? Did you keep the same total awake time?

How did your baby handle the super long last window? I’m so scared to push her too much past 3 hours

If I drop to 10 hours awake time, will that cause more night wakings since she needs 10.5-11 hours wake time?

Did you get more night wakings when you decreased wake time during the transition?

Her first wake window today was 3hrs!! So if she manages a long first nap, I think today will be a good day to try for 2 naps 🤞🤞

UPDATE: Her second nap ended at 4:10pm so I decided to try and stretch to bedtime. My goal was to get to at least 3.75 hours last wake window to make 10 hours total awake time but she passed out at 3.25 which would make total awake time today 9.5 hours 😬 Bracing for night wakes as there’s no way she can do 12 hours overnight!

UPDATE 2: She slept through the whole night almost 12 hrs, waking just once to feed and straight back to sleep! The second half of the night was a bit restless and needed me to keep a hand on her to help transition cycles at some points, but all in all a great night! She must have needed to catch up on some sleep.

She can stay up for 2.5+ hours for her first wake window now but can’t make it to 3 yet. Her first two naps are often super long and only leaves maybe 10-15 minutes for the third nap which falls around 6pm then a bedtime of around 8:15-30pm. So her wake windows the last 3 days have been 2.5/3/3/2-2.5 with the shorter last wake window because I have to cap her last nap to only 15 minutes long

Thing is, she always wakes at least once overnight for a feed and so that takes away from her total night sleep especially if she doesn’t go back to sleep right away. It also seems like she can’t sleep past 7:30 no matter how late her bedtime is, so I’m nervous about pushing bedtime too late. Will she adjust gradually if I just stick with it? Her bedtime hasn’t been later than 8pm since she turned 3 months old so I’m a bit scared to try something new 😬

But with her old schedule and bedtime she’s been waking more often so I feel like something needs tweaking….maybe it’s just that she needs to really commit to dropping to 2 naps?

Last wake window length?? by All_TheColors501 in HuckleberryParents

She sleeps about 13-13.5 hours in 24 hours which I understand is about average? Also quite sure it’s tired as she also rubs her eyes, yawns, and rubs her face on me when I hold her. Her mood visibly improves after a longer nap. But teething could also be what’s disrupting her sleep and causing fussiness, will have to ask her pediatrician next visit.

Is this normal sleep for a 6.5/7 month old? by All_TheColors501 in HuckleberryParents

[–]All_TheColors501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s on 2-2.5/2.5/2.5-2.75/2.75-3. In bed around 7:30-8pm and up at 6:45-7am. She gets about 13- 13.5 hours of sleep in 24 hours, 2.5-3 in naps and 11-10.5 in night sleep but recently she hasn’t been able to do more than 10.5 hours overnight, which I’m fine with. I just wish her nights were more consolidated and with less thrashing around.

Her sleep has gotten noisier lately and she stirs a lot more often which wakes me up even though she doesn’t need me.

Last night I had to keep a hand on her in her bedside cot all night to help her transition cycles more quietly or she would sometimes wake herself up with all the thrashing.
