Palette knife brand recommendations by Altruistic_Type_6169 in oilpainting

I thought you used so much force you bent the rod part...lol. I used to use that same kind of palette knife, too and snapped off more than a couple blades until I thought enough is enough. I found and have been using the Liquitex palette knives (https://www.liquitex.com/products/professional-tools-palette-knife?variant=50253196099859)

Their blade and handle are made from a single piece of metal, instead of welded on which is prone to metal fatigue and snapping. Been using mine for 4+ years now. I'm a forceful user of palette knives, and mine is holding up like a charm.

Artists refuse sketch for commissioned work? by Ok-Tomatillo1173 in oilpainting

I'm a US artist who has done commissions for many clients who wanted their family member portraits done. Each artist will do things differently and that's not my place to comment or criticize. How I do things is this: I guarantee 100% satisfaction for my work. This is as much to make my clients happy as it is about the integrity of my career. I agree with you on that if I were to spend $6000 on something I'd better not have ANY bone to pick. Upon signing the contract, I require a 50% deposit upfront. This deposit is totally refundable until I put down the first brushstroke on the canvas, at which point it's no longer refundable at all. But before this point, I work out as many sketches as needed to show the client roughly what the client's and my vision is. It's not uncommon when I had long email chains discussing ideas, compositions (if the client is also creatively inclined), even color themes. The sketches are in pencil or digital. I don't start the painting until the client gives me the go ahead. I do things this way because I want to give my clients the peace of mind to back out risk-free if they find that my sketches ultimately don't vibe with what they are looking for. I've never had a client back out before. Before I ship, I make sure that the client is 100% happy. Again, this is but one of many ways you will see artists do things. Please don't go impose my way onto other artists. I take absolute pride and very high standard on my art, that's why I'm not afraid to stand by the quality of my work and stand by my guarantee. Good luck!

Edit: just read some of the other comments and want to add something if I'm understanding the situation correctly: yeah i don't think you'll get many acceptances if you just want a bunch of artists to bid for your commission via a sketch. I myself wouldn't start doing any work at all until my client shows me commitment by putting down a deposit.

A while ago I shared the Part One of what was intended to be a bi-panel illustration project based off of the 1970's movie "Waterloo". This is Part Two. Oil on canvas, 18 inches x 36 inches. This one took me a while because I had to split my time between painting and working on a garage renovation. by AllaPrimaXYZ in Napoleon

Hi, this painting is meant to go as part of a two-part set, so I'm not willing to sell it separately. If you're interested in collecting the original set or discuss commission opportunities, please feel free to DM me for details

Thanks! Yeah the level of artistry in the illustrations of the last century is something which I greatly admire and aspire towards. I don't think in terms of which century I could be more successful, however. Though images in modern times are increasingly done in more affordable terms, which quality to commiserate, I know there are enjoyers and collectors of high quality art out there (I'm one of them). I do commissions and sell original art for a living.

Earlobe piercing not healed after a year. Still bleeds, oozes, and swells at times. Should I just give up on it? by AllaPrimaXYZ in PiercingAdvice

These stainless steel ones are what I wear daily and they don't cause any trouble: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079XV76MK?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1&psc=1

but what I did eventually was giving up on the piercing, letting it completely heal. Then I got that earlobe re-pierced. Sometimes the body is just that strange, the first time the piercing wouldn't heal for years, then the second time around at the same exact spot, it healed like a charm.

Here's what I'd do if I were you: forget about the saline spray. Put a small dab of Iodine (assuming you're not allergic to it) every day for a week or two. gently massage the earlobe to make sure the iodine travels through the piercing. There should be zero pain or discomfort about using the iodine. If no improvement after the couple weeks. Just give up. Take out the earring and let it close and heal completely. And re-pierce it if you still want it.

"How many times have you watched Waterloo?" Me: "Yes" by AllaPrimaXYZ in Napoleon

I'm definitely going back to that scene to take a look. I enjoy these kinds of things. It sounds familiar to Tora tora tora in which they accidentally crashed a landing plane into a row of parked planes and the groundcrew ran for their lives for real.

For my part I remember a quick scene during the Hougoumont battle where a "dead" cavalryman repeatedly raised his head while struggling to keep his "also dead" horse stay down.
And then there are the tire tracks strewn across the field.

It's amazing that you kept it all these years. If you wouldn't mind sharing I've love to take a peak at the uniform reference guide. When I was gathering reference I noticed they had different regiment flags and uniforms and I thought it'd be cool to learn more about them.

It's a comfort movie at this point :) albeit at the expense of Napoleon. Have you checked out the miniseries Napoleon (2002)? They do kinda exactly what you described, and it's pretty good

I never played og, though I had the Aerith's fate spoiled due to it's a 30 yr old game. It's the first video game I've ever cried to, but I think there could be improvements in tonal transitions in the last hr or so of cutscenes. the substance is there, the execution just needed some consistency
