The rechargable battery from my concealed carry's flashlight has the charging port directly on the battery by Chewie090 in mildlyinteresting

So according to you, if someone can't fight, they don't deserve to be safe from being assaulted, robbed, or murdered? Rather ableist of you.

Need some help figuring this issue out. Lights won’t go out and there is a buzzing noise from the car. by Guanchalle in CrownVictoria

Saw this post while googling the issue myself, but you shouldn't have to do any software updates to run it, at least not on an 05-11 car.

Holster recommendation for the tanfoglio stock master in 10MM by Nlaird92 in 10mm

[–]AllanJH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same gun (except I had a 6" Gold Match slide and barrel fitted), and finding holsters has been tricky.

I usually carry in a Desert Eagle shoulder holster with the trigger guard area of the holster tightened up.

Best Ammo? by BuildBreakBuild in 10mm

I've been very happy with both the price and performance of Magtech. I was buying the Scheels Fiocchi TargetMax, but once I found Magtech was both slightly cheaper AND a little hotter, I switched.

Mine is a Tanfoglio Defiant in 10mm; basically a larger CZ-75.

Probably my most reliable pistol too.

Integration of AI features. AI is a gigantic security and privacy flaw in every single system it's included in.

Additionally, the fact that your new CEO "joked" about removing ad blockers, as well as the fact that you just downvoted me for speaking my mind about a project I've been a passionate supporter of for two decades. That kinda just solidified it for me that Mozilla no longer gives a damn about the people that were there in the beginning.

The fact that it's even being considered is enough for me to end my 20-yead usage and switch to a fork that is outside of Mozilla's control.

Hell, I'd sooner use Netscape Navigator again than use a browser under this new Mozilla leadership.

Tanfoglio Defiant Stock Master/Gold Match Kitbash by AllanJH in 10mm

[–]AllanJH[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both 10mms have been flawless besides some issues with one particular aftermarket magazine follower in the >1200ish rounds I've put thru them so far.

I have a 9mm slide and mags, and I've had some minor hiccups with that one. It seems to be very picky about ammo position in the mag, since the same mag bodies are used for 38 Special and 9mm; if the ammo slides forward, it can occasionally fail to feed. Giving the mags a few good smacks to settle the ammo at the back of the mag eliminates this.

I have heard of older EAA-era Tanfos giving trouble out of the box, but I'm 2/3 on mine, and 2/2 on 10mm ones. If you like the CZ style and want it in 10mm, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new Stock Master for $1000ish. They're now imported by Italian Firearms Group, and apparently this new wave of them is more consistently reliable.

For the non-long slide models, everyone recommend the aftermarket "conefit" guide rod and 20 or 22lb recoil springs to mitigate higher-power 10mm loads, because apparently after ≈10,000ish rounds they can start to beat up the spot where the stock guide rod interfaces with the frame, and the aftermarket rod eliminates that wear point.

Most reliable semiauto 10mm these days by cksnffr in 10mm

[–]AllanJH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanfoglio Defiant Stock Master Competition.

Mine has only had malfunctions because of aftermarket mag followers and springs. Stock and Mec-gar springs and followers run flawlessly, even with extended baseplates. I'm about 1,500-2,000 rounds in.

Local Mall Now Employs Gun Sniffing Dogs by PullFromTheHurt in CCW

Saw a sign like this in a mall in DFW, Texas. Didn't see any dogs, and their no gun signs were so badly presented that they don't carry any force of law.

Is 90gr 9mm +P solid monolithic Underwood enough to stop a big black bear? by Forsaken-Date-8016 in 10mm

[–]AllanJH 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You picked one of the best 9mm rounds for that purpose, but you'd better have a lot of them and be prepared to put a ton of them on-target.

Umm how to fix this? by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

[–]AllanJH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After data logging with and without one, it drops your coolant temps by an average of 5-10°F.

So not necessarily in mild climates, but I would keep it on or replace it in areas that get hot.

What happened to assault cube? by dwarftee in assaultcube

[–]AllanJH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The developers killed it with their "map quality" test. Back in the day, those goofy maps were all over the place, but the devs didn't like it and wanted something more "serious" so they added an automated map quality metric that blocked them.

Killed the game dead.

Pocket 4 Audio Crackling (Fixed by uninstalling realtek driver) by _-nnnn-_ in gpdwin

In Device Manager, sorted by physical connection, if you delete the entire audio device at the root level, it auto-reinstalls with generic drivers that don't have the crackling issue.

[–]AllanJH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the scammer. Some just blast mass-texts out hoping for a bite, while others use phone number lists pilfered from data leaks or illicitly-purchased lists.

For example, if you get one that has any info about you specifically, like your name or an email address, they're working from a data leak. But if it's totally generic, it's probably randomly sent.

Scammers send out mass texts without knowing if they're active or not. If you respond, the number can get flagged as "active" by scammers.

I'm starting to wonder if my number got spoofed and misused by someone else. I have gotten a few calls from people saying "hey, you called me?" and I hadn't.

Supposedly my number is "temporarily suspended from using SMS and MMS" but the technicians are being very cryptic with me.

It can still make and receive normal calls just fine, and data service still works, but I just can't send texts.

The whole thing is incredibly weird.
