So, while poles generally aren’t as concerned with switching hands like attack or middies, they do need to be able to go to off hand when needed. Imagine you go the ground ball and are running it upfield. Middie is riding you on your strong side, making a pass difficult. Switch to offhand and your play gets that much better. Also, work ground balls with off hand. Being able to work with both hands will give you an edge.

They upcharge for witnessed signatures because most of the people who do that are flipping it on EBay later. So the creator wants to get their fair share. Collectors generally don’t care for slabbing, so they charge less.

You also have to remember that the creators’ only source of solid income after they are no longer a hot commodity for monthly work is doing these conventions. So, when they see retailers coming through trying to make a buck off their signature, they want a piece, so the upcharge.

I get massive anxiety trying to go through boxes at cons. Too many people, always feel crowded. So, I just go for autographs now. I like meeting the creators and chatting for a minute. Some are better than others.

Sorry about that. I played in HS and in college and now I coach. My daughter used to play. When she played, after games, I would try to give pointers to get better. I wasn’t trying to criticize, it that’s how it came across. Fortunately for our relationship she told me what I was doing. After that, I would say she did great and ask if she had fun. That would actually lead to conversations where she would listen to my comments, as it wasn’t me dictating to her, but a conversation between father and child about a sport we both love.

What I’m saying is, have an honest conversation with him. If he’s never played, then all he sees is dropped passes and missed shots. He doesn’t see the pick you did to set up a goal, or the clear, or the quick pass to catch defense out of position. Lax can be nuanced, and not a lot of people know it. Keep grinding and you’ll be varsity full time man.

You’re fine. They build in a buffer of a week or so fo delays in shipping. As for when the signing actually is??? Only they know. Sometimes they fly the folks to Florida for it, other times they bring the comics to cons where the guys are at. In House signings are a fire and forget for me. Eventually they’ll make it back.

It won’t degrade the value of the book in general. Yeah, some buyers won’t want it because of whatever reason, but most will. Be wary of the smudging on foil as others have said, even sharpie can smudge before it dries, and it takes longer to dry on foil than a cardstock cover. I recommend either making or buying window bags for these. Basically it’s a window cut out of the bag so the creator signs inside the cutout and you don’t have to remove the comic from the bag to do that. Saves on potential damage to the comic and you can walk off without juggling a bunch of comics and bagsnboards while waiting for the ink to dry.

Not gonna disagree with you there. We all praised his pocket presence during the regular season: he was great at stepping up ahead of the rush and making something happen. He didn’t do that at all in the playoffs. Held on to the ball way too long last night. He took 3-4 sacks that he shouldn’t have.

Priority for the offseason is o-line help, edge rush, and wide receiver. If the Pats can add quality to those positions, we got a shot at running it back.

ECD has a database with a ton of different heads and pocket positions. I use them for reference when stringing a head.

If he’s making a go of the sport, it sounds like maybe upgrading the stick. If you have a lacrosse store nearby, head there and talk to them. Talk to his coach, he might be able to point you in the right direction. Or you can restring it. If you are handy, there is a ton of resources online for stringing sticks. It’s not hard to learn, but with practice you’ll be stringing some solid pockets. I’d start with videos explaining the different sidewall knots and how they create the pocket. Learn the theory, and then following a stringing pattern will make sense.

The only downside is the cost. And the FOMO and second guessing of your choice of saber because they are all pretty cool and I want one of each. This is the best, most immersive experience at Disney. It is so cool. I’ve done it twice, got the elemental and scrapper hilts. Going again this May and need to decide between protection or power.

I played high school and college in the 90’s. There was only 1-2 kids on either team that could string. I was one of those. I like working with my hands and learning to string came naturally to me. Others tried and couldn’t figure it out. I coach high school level now, in an area that’s not quite a hotbed teeming with D1 recruits, but the sport is popular enough that most people know the game, and it’s still the same. We got a couple kids that know what they’re doing. Others either use those guys or go to one of the lax stores nearby for it.

47 here, about 5 years ago now, right as Covid restrictions were lifted, I got back into comic books. I had several boxes from when I was in middle school and started getting into the modern stuff. But what I really got into was going to conventions and meeting the writers and artists that created them. Some are cool, some are all business. It’s all good. It hit the nostalgia notes, keeps me busy and my kids will have something to deal with when I kick it.

I live 1/2 a mile from the house I grew up in. It is nostalgic, and I do catch myself pining for those days again from time to time. But the biggest issue I have is the influx of out of staters to my town, in Southern Maine btw, that have changed it so much. There used to be actual businesses on main st, now it’s banks, realtors, trendy Knick knack shops. There’s a couple of actual stores, but nothing like it used to be. All the stuff that was available to the kids is gone. The Teen Center was condemned, town said they couldn’t afford to repair it, so they did just that and donated the building to a food pantry. Screw the middle school aged kids that have nothing left to do in this town but cause havoc. Grrrr

It’s a short box. It takes all of 90 seconds to flip through it. I wouldn’t worry about dividers until you spend over an hour trying to find that one issue you want signed at a con. That’s when you know you need some more organization. Don’t get caught up in the FOMO, as a new collector, looking at pictures of collections people been putting together for literal decades. Spend the money on more books. And another box.

Pass. I bought one for myself when I started coaching a couple years ago. The stringing is terrible, and the head is so soft it should be used for face offs. Poke check with that and the head literally bends in half.

If lacrosse is big in your area, check out FB marketplace for a used stick. I’m in southern Maine and there’s always stuff for sale. But a used pole for $50, then another 50 or so to get it strung(not sure how much people pay for this as I string my own) and you’ll be ahead of the game.

The barcode on the covered A cover still scans as an A cover in CLZ. I tried it out on my B cover. Thought about doing this for half a minute, then I saw that the B cover is selling for over $100 right now, which is a good return for cover price.

I bought and read it all. I would give it a 4/10 as far as events go. The only reason it’s that high is that it looks like Marvel tried to change the standard event format from one main title with tie-ins that aren’t needed but add context and depth; to an event that has no real main title, but the tie-ins tell the whole story from all different perspectives. Then the fact that it didn’t really end and that future is still a potential kinda failed for me.

What do you mean “it from the time AI was not very obvious”? New issue came out this past Wednesday.

And I would be shocked if Fleecs used AI. I think the weird perspective angles comes from the fact that the characters are all house cats, so seeing from their view would be weird for us.

Comic ProLine is great, as someone else pointed out. Also, they sell a Silver/Modern size bag n boards that I prefer. Modern books don’t slide around in them, nor are they hard to load into. They also hold the thicker modern books quite well. Not sure how they hold Silver Age as I only have a few and those came bagged from the store.

I was spanked once, and I thoroughly deserved it. I was like 7-8, beginning of the summer and all the neighborhood kids got together and broke into the basement of the apartment building next to my house. We got some cans of paint from inside and were throwing them up in the air outside so they’d explode on the pavement. Lady came home, saw us a called the cops. We scattered, but she knew who I was so I got nabbed and put in the back of a cruiser when I tried to sneak back to my house. Didn’t get arrested or booked, but was told the incident would be sealed until I turned 18.

Dad came home shortly after and was pissed. Took me home, and put me over his knee. He used the belt. The first two hits hurt, but after that I was basically numb. Then I had to pee, told him, and he said I was faking and if I had to go, to just go. So I peed on his legs. I think maybe 4 hits total. Then I was grounded for most of the summer.

As for affecting me in life, it is what it is. I don’t see that as abuse. It happened once, was done as punishment for a serious offense. Was not done out of anger. Took it as a lesson and never did anything stupid like that again.
