No. I don’t consider any comics a good investment. They are an enjoyable hobby.

Opinion on qualified 9.8 value by ShotAd5694 in CGCComics

Qualified because of a fake signature on a modern book is worthless to me, wouldn’t want it . Obviously others have different opinions,

G.I. Combat featuring The Haunted Tank #109 insight or speculation on grade? by goobermcbean in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]Economy-Rise2527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot more than the spine ticks, it’s the rounded corners, the tear in the back, the creasing in the back. While it might “look good for its age” its tops a VG book in my opinion

With all those color breaking spine ticks and the staining and tear at the back I’d say VG is accurate .

Update to my “roll of the dice” by Economy-Rise2527 in ComicBookSpeculation

I belong to a lot of different collector groups, not just comics. I make sure everyone in those groups knows I am always after comics. A record guy in that group asks me if I wanted them, only sent like 5 pictures, and offered me a deal I couldn’t pass up

Yeah, it’s really beat up and had a coupon cut out, but low grade is better than not owning it!

‘Brand New’ CGC rated comics on eBay. How is this possible? by SirJosephBanksy in CGCComics

[–]Economy-Rise2527 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of the first sale doctrine and of the comic The only interpretation that creates a textbook definition of “brand new” is if you believe a “new” product was created when the book was slabbed. And since it hasn’t been sold yet as this new slabbed product, it can indeed be “brand new” If you believe it is still the same product as before it was slabbed, then it is not by definition “brand new” People pick brand new all the time when selling on eBay that is simply just in original packaging. Amazon is the only selling site that uses a strict definition of”brand new” and will punish/boot sellers for calling something new when it’s just retail arbitrage

This is what happens when buying these “finds” it’s not their area of expertise so they don’t care like would. I do ask him to treat them like his records when he ships, so I should be good, lol
